GR Digital 1 will only focus in macro

As title, got this camera a short while ago and now the only way it will focus is autofocus with macro on, or manual within macro range. Autofocus with macro off, manual greater than macro range, snap, infinity are all out of focus. Does anyone know if this is something can be fixed? It started after I went to the beach and then the lens had trouble retracting for a while, so maybe something is stuck in there?

Tiny grains of sand have been known to wreak havoc once inside photographic equipment.
