Pentax have a lot invested in the K-mount, but realistically, if they needed to scrap it to make the best camera they can make, I'd be fine with that. If they don't make the best camera they can make I'd probably switch systems anyway, so in either case it's the same thing.

Course if it does happen to have the K-mount on it I'd be a very happy chappy.

Well, I'm going on until 3000, because I heard about the free 645D.

Seriously though, I'm following these new-product threads with a very close eye. Because I'd love to see my favorite brand developing well. I won't be buying it though. I just bought the K5 a year ago. Can't do that to my wife.

Hmm the poll could have been explained better on the initial posting.. or labelled each one for it's level of importance.. Very/moderately/little and a no vote would be "not important".. first clicking into the link you just posted nothing shows why there are 3 of each.. so I just letter fly..

This has been one of my main points for a while now.

APS-C is a tier that's getting saturated with a lot of choices, and with the intrusion of mirrorless, more players than the original big three. (and aps-c itself is getting gnawed at from below by the pretty-good smaller formats.)

It should be coming clear in folks minds here now how brutally competitive that tier is - and we're just really at the start of mirrorless/EVIL. Wait until that new mirrorless ILC body from Fuji appears, wait until Nikon + Canon really get into the game, watch Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, etc.

Something like a K-x, and entry-level DSLR, which was the reason Pentax was in the black last year, is probably not going to be able to do as well in this new environment as the K-x did..

I fear that If K-mount is going to remain viable, a move into FF makes sense - a tier that it's much harder for the new EVIL players to follow you to.

Agreed jsherman999, it's a tough field out there - however I don't think it will be long before the mirrorless pack invades FF.

There's plenty of room for Pentax to do something different with mirrorless, this should be an interesting year.
