No Way. The Sony DSLR-A850 was the cheapest FF DSLR when it entered the market. I'm hoping that Pentax will be able to beat it in the reasonably priced FF stakes, and still keep it a real DSLR and not some kind of EVIL/translucent mirror thing.
+1

Pentax established a bit of a "big bang for the buck"-name, and it would be nice and smart to follow up on that. It will surely lure customers who are saving up for a FF body from the competitors into Pentax.

It is quite astonishing that a thread with little more than an acknowledgement of a sent mail should manage to generate 1,430 replies.

he's comparing to pre hoya prices which went without a mark up on lenses for eons and put pentax in the position it was in when hoya bought them. the FA50 1.4 was stupidly under-priced at the time, now it's on par with comparable lenses from canikon. if course not having a cheaper 50 1.7 made of plastic makes them look expensive by comparison

When will K-5 be officially discontinued?

With the $300 rebate, puts K-5 at $1200.
Must be hard to pass up.

The thing is.... 1,400 posts are all made by probably less than 50 people.

There are 50 people in the world that REALLY want a Pentax full frame. Not much of market.

Well, going by that logic, since there are only probably 500 or so active, posting members in this entire forum, that must mean that there only 500 people in the world who would buy any future Pentax camera!. Not much of a market, what was Ricoh thinking!

There are many people who actively follow this thread because they are very interested in Pentax making a FF. For the record, I will get one within months of such a camera hitting the market.

I think for full frame Pentax of 2 different products.

1- 24mp CMOS FF (for large print and iso performance)

2- 12mp CCD (Kodak product) for high quality and general use

Double suprise; there is no doubt, would be a huge explosion.

oh my dream

24 CMOS sensor is discontinued
12 MP CCD Kodak - there is no such sensor

If Ricoh would move toward to FF, we can see either new SONY FF CMOS sensor - more than 30 MP, or 16 MP new CCD sensor from Kodak in FF camera.
