Happy 100th page!! I didn't think we'd make it. 100 pages, 1486 posts, and 71,777 views and 136 "likes" in six weeks.

And is it bad I've read every one of those posts and pages hoping for more information on an upcoming FF from Pentax?

Not bad, but certainly futile. Anything anybody says regarding when or if there will be a FF is pure speculation. Now that you have read the entire thread, make your own guess. It will be as valid as anybody else's.

The Q is one of the cameras that I just don't understand the need for. If I care enough about IQ to deal with interchangeable prime lenses then I probably care enough to go for a larger sensor and carry around a larger camera. If size and convenience are the most important factors then any new smart phone will do.

BSI is cool tech and an obvious step forward. There is a good chance the heat issues will be resolved and they will be able to make larger sensors like m4/3. If Panasonic can put BSI sensors in a m4/3 body they will easily exceed APS-C performance.

Exactly who is the target demographic for the Q? James Bond fans?
The Japanese home market. They have different tastes than the US market does.

And I am shocked that after all of that effort Pentax has STILL not announced a full frame camera. Shocked.

I don't think there will be an FF. Ricoh just updated GXR roadmap for 2012, APS-C sensor (16mp) module. Maybe a new K-r with 16 mp sensor and K-5x or whatever name with problems solved. What they would need to do, in my opinion is not FF but better AF (smaller points, better tracking and accuracy) and 1/250 flash sync.

Maybe they want to bet on GXR line, keep the lenses and still have no idea what to do with Pentax cameras. Or maybe they will make a plastic fantastic bright pink 645D toy middle format camera that works for 1000 shots and cost 150, who knows?

After 100 pages i know for sure we don't! Cheers!

If they wanted to "bet on GXR line" and they had "no idea what to do with Pentax cameras" they wouldn't had bought Pentax. But they did
Anyway, Ricoh is Ricoh, Pentax is Pentax; separate entities (even if Ricoh owns Pentax), separate camera lines. And we know what Ricoh want to do with Pentax: Pentax cameras

Indeed, better AF is a must but this should also include faster (AF-wise) lenses. Hopefully, they'll get rid of the huge AF points SAFOX IX+ (otherwise I liked their arrangement) and of those SDM micromotors (low-end solution) in their top lenses.
1/250 is only 1/3 stop from 1/180 (or something like that), so it's not such a big issue.

It's amazing how people can talk about nothing at all, isn't it? OTOH if there were something to talk about, the thread probably wouldn't even be half as long. It amazes me, so much time and energy gone to waste...

I don't know if it's a waste. Is having fun a waste?

The amount of reactions and views caused by a tiny spec of light at the end of the tunnel does indicate that Pentax users are very passionate about their brand.

Well, it may be fun talking about it for a minute or 5. But in the end I'd rather just do something else. But don't let that stop you, because you're not me.

And it may be me, but the part of the camera that matters the least is located just below the pop-up flash when looked at from the front. It's usually white letters on a black background...

I'd rather be done with it and just use the thing.

Now, using a 30FF is a whole different thing from the looks of it.
