It's called Leica M9.

Got the money, it's reality.

If not, it's fantasy.

Got a credit card, it's a bad dream.

Or your spouse's.

M9 = unimpressive sensor.

Well, I understand the shortcomings of it, but it is good enough, especially for me.

If Pentax was really about to release a FF, why not announcing it NOW, instead of letting potential buyers switching for months ?

I mean, by the time they announce it for real, a good part of Pentax users wanting FF will already have jumped ship.

I agree. There's definitely been an uptick in people selling their entire kit + K-5 lately.

However there's a tradeoff between announcing ahead of time vs. not... and the reaction/advantage of other manufacturers.

Same reason they didn't announce it before the K20D launch or the K7 launch or the K-5 launch. Cause it ain't gonna happen.....

Maybe they just weren't ready then?

I guess I'm saying that everyone who keeps posting about this should just enjoy the great gear they have now. If you have a professional need, well maybe it's something you should look at, otherwise go take pictures.

Never say never.

This year? No.
Next year? Not many people know.

No need for Pentax to copy it, then.

First leaked Nikon D600 images | Nikon Rumors

So... The rumored sub-$2,000 Nikon FF camera, the D600, just got images of itself leaked.

I hope that's a big push for Pentax to answer. I can see it pushing Pentax to answer and I can also see it pushing Pentax away from that market. If the rumored specs are real as well, Pentax will see another group of users hemorrhaging out (the ones that keep saying they want an FF at APS-C price).

I think you need to ask if it's good for pentax to compete with this, if pentax would go into direct competition it would mean a new lens line and camera's something i don't see pentax do for these low margins...

Haha yeah, that's why I mentioned it could push Pentax away as well. Of course, if they don't they're promising another portion of users leaving them. A $1,500-$2,000 full frame? That's a really low price when you consider that the Canon 7D is $1,550 and the D7000 was $1,200 last I checked.

But yeah, competing would be hard. Remanufacturing old Pentax FA lenses might be cheaper but it would still be fairly expensive. Seems like Pentax's way to profits will most likely with their weather-proof P&Ses and their rather unusual mirrorless cameras.

The K-30's a fantastic DSLR spec-wise, but Pentax will have to continuously make K5-styled waves in the photography world to really re-establish itself.

But you need to buy $1000+ lenses to really get something out of the bigger sensor and the whole system is larger and heavier as well.

I'm more excited in a pro APS-C system because i love how carrier-able the Pentax system is right now.
