add $3000 to the 3 lens kit if the D4 is your goal
Did I mention 300mm/f2.8 with 1.4x TC?

I discovered that working with two camera body's is very nice.................So maybe two D4's.

O and a few big and fast memorycards, since my SDHC cards won't fit. Having at least one f2.0 (or f1.4) lens would also be great.

Wow my Pentax kit is cheap

ok since you want all that extra I'll need you to get your wife to prick her thumb an deposit her soul as well

it's a huge investment going full on Nikon pro huh

a lot of guys i know here own the lenses but lease the bodies. lenses are a better investment of course and bodies devalue rapidly and need reasonably frequent upgrades - every 3-4 years versus a lens being a minimum 10-12 year cycle barring any stupid accidents ( so a lease gives a nice clean tax write off)

Still cheaper than it was to fund a medium format setup back in the day (a nice hassy kit or RX67 mamiya added up to 15-20 grand in a heartbeat)

The K-5 doesn't look so bad at all in this side-by-side view.

Side by Side Comparison: Digital Photography Review

PS: Apart from the fact those clowns at DPR have left out quite a lot of spec data it looks pretty good on paper up against these other two machines.

i love the way dpreview leaves features off the K5 list. apparently it wasn't worth mentioning it too is a mag alloy body
also it apparently has no colour space or filter arrays, and is missing an AF assist light as well. and of course there are no exposure modes

they really are hopeless over there

I don't thing id class the 5D3 or D800 mid size slrs either lol

You have to do some digging to find out how awesome Pentax cameras are.

It amazes me how ineptly marketed they are.

Well for the time being not an option for me. Who knows what the future brings, but I would want a nice FF (or yes APS-H) Pentax camera when the specs are right.

after being intrigued i went on Vistek (local pro shop) and did a trial cart with the 3 zooms and 4 prime an 800E and a D700 backup (no flashes)
with tax $20350 CAD (I imagine the monthly lease with a close to zero buyout at the end would come in at about $700 a month on that. If I thought I could consistently generate the net income to cover that for the next 3 years i'd be in there tomorrow placing my order, but that would require me to get more serious about pursuing photography work and i am essentially a lazy git
Holy damn - that's a small CAR!!

Well you don't have to buy those lenses. You could just 'get by' with a 24, 50, 85 and a 135 or 200 with a TC. They do make cheaper lenses with great IQ.

The car has a bigger viewfinder even if it isn't body-on-frame.
