You realize that there's a simple cure for this depressing situation don't you? Buy a Nikon FF and stick a Pentax (recently become PenTAX based on new pricing) Decal on the Pentaprism. People have been whining on these forums for 4 years (at least) speculating about a FF at any time... it's tragic and I feel your pain... ..I'm looking at buying a Nikon or Canon after Photonika (even the name is an acronym for Nikon Photo if you reuse a couple of letters.. lol) if the news is bad.

Im sorry if it came out like i am whining Im not. I just found it interesting and couldnt help being a litle ironic about it all.
Also reminds me how far behind Pentax will be with lens support if they'd go FF in a year or two... otoh Tamron would have no problem with slapping a K-mount to that lens if they wanted to support Pentax when the time comes.

Sorry, I didn't mean to give the wrong impression as I wasn't targeting you with my comments at all. I was just trying to be a smart arse (smartass for Americans) and offer the obvoious path for those who seem stuck in the mud.

So I bought a FA 31mm/f1.8 Ltd. and that would give Pentax the green light to set off with a new Full Frame (or better an APS-H) camera!

Since Ricoh entered the situation things have been looking up generally.

Ashiflex has been saying about the end of apsc dslrs- with all the mirrorless cameras coming through. I would say that the next two years will be far more likely to see Pentax fill the gap in its line up than the last four were.

Think about it- a mirrorless camera with a direct upgrade route into a full frame would be a massive selling point for Pentax as a brand. Something no other brand could provide without an adapter- and all the adapters look stupid IMHO.

Just forgot about it. I was thinking that with my set FA31mm, DA*55mm and FA*85mm I really don't need any other focallength under 100mm when in my bag is next to a K-5 also a FF camera. Mixing them with camera's gives me then options of using 31mm, 47mm, 55mm, 83mm, 85mm and 129mm. Looks perfect for me, don't really need wider then that.

And the K-01 looks stupid IMHO.

Probably the very best argument in the whole thread.

When one runs out of valid arguments, one starts questioning the external appearance.

Yeah I'm notthat keen either- should have looked like the q but bigger. Some people like it though- and at least it caused a mini stir anyway... It's a bit of a marmite camera (to coin a bad phrase).

Besides- we know that Ricoh hired more engineers (hired back the ones Hoya fired) they also put they whole ricoh imaging team under Pentax on top of the people already working for Hoya.

So there are lots of people working on something. Be that solely the k-5, k-r (plus the k-01, which to me seems like a mix of both) and gxr replacents (which the engineers could have presumably been able to do without hiring more) plus something else (which this logic suggests) or not remains to be seen (and will be seen at PK).

So there's no reason why FF can't be that thing.
Plus stick some new hardware in the 645d and we are away!

I suspect their priorities is to make the 645 system cheaper...but I could be wrong...
