but I found here that A50/1.2 is discontinued on 2011
I guess some will see that as a sign that there is no FF planned, or some will see that as A sign the A50 1.2 is being retooled to become the DFA 50 1.2. What we need is a Japanese forum member willing to become a corporate "personal secretary" for some Pentax VP, so we have the inside line on what these things mean. If we all contribute to augment his/her salary I'm sure we can find someone who can pull this off. Said person could pass in interesting inter-departmental mail, and internal memos of interest, doodles tossed in trash cans, doodles from the back of submitted expense account receipts, any sign that any Pentax VP has bought a Canon or Nikon FF... we need more to work with. Failing that, how bout paying a dumpster diver to go through Pentax's garbage every night looking for relevant information, he could augment his /her income by snapping photo's of Pentax employees coming from or going to Pentax headquarters with anything resembling a prototype camera or lens.

Of course we'd have to start a subscription site with all the latest Pentax LBA porn, with new pictures or videos every day... then we could argue about whether or not certain lenses were photoshopped to make them look bigger than they really are. New terms would have to be created for categories like Lens I'd Like to Mount, (LILM), Cross-mounters with adapters, and Cameras with big lens release buttons...

Who's in?

I've been watching a lot of "Burn Notice" lately and at least as Japanese as Sean Connery. I nominate myself for candidacy as 'biggest mole'.

Don't forget that Sigma & Tamron make a FF lens or two for Pentax.

Pentax would want to cash in on the lens market ASAP as that would be where much of the profit is generated from in a system. I suppose they'd want to offer their own WA's, 70-200 and longer tele's before the 3rd party suppliers took those markets from them.

I didn't include this because it has been demonstrated to have quite a bit of vignetting at longer focal lengths.

The Cosina - Zeiss lenses have been put out opt production last year, if I am not mistaken. Looking at the list of lenses, it seems that if Pentax would do a FF camera, it would be to let Sigma sell the lenses.

As of now, IF pentad would come out with a full frame camera, I think it would be a pseudo-rangefinder vintage-looking mirrorless camera to sell along the three amigos FA limited. It wouldn't be a bad move, looking at how the Fuji pro is storming the fora. I guess the problem would be cramming all the needed electronics and mechs into a small MX-like body. Basically an impossible task.

Even if possible, then the next problem surfaces. Cramming all that in such a tiny body will demand the use of tiny flimsy parts. Those will not last long.

Personally, I don't get the lust for miniaturisation at all. If my K5 was 645D sized, I would still carry it ALL THE TIME. Heck, when I go out shooting, I carry my K5 AND my film 645 both on neck straps. Of course with a backpack full of lenses for both systems. (Beats going to the gym! (I'm not allowed to take my camera there.))

A fully featured FF the size of a K20D+grip, with the K20D's build quality would be a winner in my book.

How that would differentiate from a Canikony full frame camera? Having a K-mount that you own or Sigma is selling? That wouldn't help Pentax.

Pentax in the interview declares that they will make a full frame to interest to the market, not as an homage to old fans (like Sony did). Looking at the apparent success of the (APS-C) Fuji camera, my guess is that having few lenses (Pentax lenses, not Sigma or Tamron) could not be a problem if they aim to the crowd of photographers that are looking for a no non-sense camera, with a seventies look, clear traditional wheels controls (maybe two coaxial wheel for iSO and Shutter, aperture ring on the lens) simple lines and high but not exaggerate price (2000 euros). Two version, one black and one black and silver with the exact matching to the texture of the FA lenses. A sort of reflex Leica M9. It wouldn't need extreme abilities in fps or AF, just like the 645D doesn't need. Add some new FA limited, like a 19, a 25, a 125, and you have something that could appeal to many that use a camera to makes photos.

But it wouldn't be the camera to reduce the sense of inferiority of Pentaxians toward their Canikonians cousins...

Not a chance of this design from a company that more than any other caused the virtual demise of the rangefinder, and who have zero history as a rangefinder company. the Fuji RF type design makes complete sense as they have a long history of rangefinder cameras in medium format (and a few in 35mm if you go back far enough)

I'm a big fan of rangefinders but i don't see Pentax pursuing that design

As for cramming all the bits and pieces in a body the size of the mx, well you'd need more depth to allow for the lcd and some of the electronics. the registration distance doesn't change and since the film plane is pretty much at the back of the mx that is where the front of the sensor needs to be, still need room for SR and lcd and circuit boards so even a digital mx or lx will be deeper than their historical brethern

You make a interesting point but have over egged the cake.

Lots of these lens are not really available with lead times exceeding 2 months.
Others are not FF lens and have really weak borders that some dude has defined as acceptable.
In the commercial world Pentax could not offer these as FF lens.

Which ones are these? I will verify and remove them from the list. (I am assuming you are talking excessive about vignetting, and not just poor corner resolution before stopping down, plenty of lenses have the latter and still sell for their respective formats)
