You might should at least give Pentax until Photokina in September. If they're going to announce FF, it'd most likely be there. Of course if you've got a gig in the summer than you've gotta do what ya gotta do!

No. By saying that AF does not outperform him, he means that both he and AF fail to focus properly

Yes, in most cases you can. By the time you have decided which focus point to use, selected focus point, aimed (or recomposed), pressed down the release button, you've already manual focused.

Pentax Lenses on Nikon Bodies

Adapters are available for mounting Pentax lenses on Nikon cameras. So no need to sell my great old Pentax lenses. With my old lenses I'll need to shoot in manual mode anyway (regardless of whether I have a new Pentax or new Nikon), and I can focus manually as I did for many, many years. But I guess I will wait until Photokina in September. Hopefully something good is coming from Pentax.

The K to F mount adapter contains glass that will degrade image quality. F mount has a longer flange to focal length.

+1^^^
that is the biggest problem with moving to Nikon (they make some amazing cameras but be prepared to invest in all new glass). Canon OTOH can easily be adapted to most lenses too bad ergonomically they are horrible

But aren't their lenses like the new 24-70G worth the money?

Nikon makes a fantastic 3 lens setup all 2.8 the 14-24, 24-70, 70-200 but that 3 lens kit with a D800e will set you back a hair under $10,000
all 3 lenses are pretty much as good as it gets in zoom land and they are as sharp as most primes out there

So like many others i would like to see that FF Pentax come along that lets me use my existing lenses as I buy up to newer better ones over time. If I wasn't on a fixed budget I'd pickup the Nikon kit (and add the 24 1.4 35 1.4 50 1.2 and the 85 1.4 G to round it out)
Sadly though i don't have a spare $16000
With the release of the D800e and the D4 I think Nikon has really come out with the Canon killers to recover their lost supremacy (they certainly ruled until the digital age)
the most exciting thing i've seen from canon was the Cine DSLR stuff which is more a red arriflex product (and since you can get the lenses from canon in mounts for red and arriflex I'm not sure the camera body will do the numbers but the lenses will sell for certain)

I noticed that too. And then I added up my investment into Pentax over the years

LOL, I am an absolute cheapskate so i doubt all the gear i've bought and sold over the years in various formats has added up to my dream nikon kit @16000

heck i had a Nikon dream kit in the 70's with 2 f bodies 3 finders 6 lenses motor drive and bulk back that i only spent $600 on from someone who was in need of cash, i sold it for $800 when i was in the same boat a year later (what a dumb ass mistake that was it was a fantastic kit I should have stayed with it and built slowly towards the more modern as time passed)

In any case the prior spend is moot because that 3 lens $10000 Nikon kit can't even be bought for another few weeks yet. If I was making the leap to shooting full time instead of as a hobby with some sales I would invest in that kit with a couple of speedlghts and a D700 for backup (probably via a lease over 3 years)

My problem is that my dream camera costs the same as my total Pentax kit. A D4 is expensive.

add $3000 to the 3 lens kit if the D4 is your goal

after being intrigued i went on Vistek (local pro shop) and did a trial cart with the 3 zooms and 4 prime an 800E and a D700 backup (no flashes)
with tax $20350 CAD (I imagine the monthly lease with a close to zero buyout at the end would come in at about $700 a month on that. If I thought I could consistently generate the net income to cover that for the next 3 years i'd be in there tomorrow placing my order, but that would require me to get more serious about pursuing photography work and i am essentially a lazy git
