I kinda doubt it. Generally the new innovations are easier to apply to smaller chips - e.g. backlighting, small pixels, etc - and gradually get applied to larger chips.

I'm not a hardware expert by any means but I'm not aware of any technology that started as a huge chip and then migrated downwards.

Smaller FF from Pentax

I was standing at a fight night (Muay Thai) next to someone with Canon 5Dii with grip and 24-70mm/f2.8 lens. He was complaining about his camera, because it was so large and heavy. Even having trubble with his shoulder since ringfights was his main way of sportsphotography (while I'm there every once in a wile). My set up was two camera's, K-5 with FA31mm and K-5 with DA*55mm, changing camera quickly when needed.

There is a market for a full frame camera that is small (as possible). I would want that.

My picture got in a paper, so there are options enough to improve and get better to FF starting from a K-5 styled camera. Fightpicture

As always, it is not the brushes and paints that make the great painting, but the artist that makes use of the brushes and paints they have!

Imagine that, two cameras, two lenses, NO ZOOM!

Good shot!

I agree. The canikon full frames are far too big for my liking.

Eh, a bit confused. Sorry. So now just a hint is ok? I don't need proof now?

I kind of baselessly think that APS-C technology is reaching its limit. m4/3 and even smaller sensors probably have more room for improvement although this is a baseless assumption. If the market prefers smaller sized cameras, and m4/3 can improve IQ etc. it is baselessly conceivable to me that APS-C can be led out the door.
It depends on what you're doing, doh!
Claiming something is happening - bring proof.
Discussing possible "what if" scenarios - hint is enough.
Still confused?

What, you believe APS-C sensors will soon reach a technological limit, but the smaller m4/3 ones won't?

...It's clearly time for a new FF thread...

No rumors somewhere somehow? Should I create one?

All right, I'll start a rumor: Pentax will launch something, sometimes. Speculations?

Oh a new thread about a new Pentax product? Let me be the one who starts the oh-so original joke of guessing the name. K-Vincostner?

Is this a fact, or excerpts from the textbook of speculation?

It seemed so. Happy holidays (or whatever you're celebrating, or happy weekend if you aren't celebrating anything).
This exchange is over.

Well Team!

From my point of view they are running out of numbers (K20D, K7, K5, after K5- K3?) which are all ASC-P sensors. With the K-01 out, even though it is not an SLR, they can't call anything a K-1 as it would be WAY too confusing! So my thinking is they have to go UP in numbers now to make a distinction from the smaller sensor cameras. How about a K1000D! Look at the ROOM they would have for upgrades (K997D, K995D etc.). Even if you went by hundreds (k900D, k800D) you still have about 10 versions you can go to! And like the original K1000, it could be an entry level, simpler, FF DSLR to get us all started and get those FF lenses sold. Just give me two wheels (f-stops and shutter speeds).

And the guessing continues!

Regards,
