Three perfect little lenses ready to go, and a (probably) FF general purpose zoom on the drawing board. All the DA primes over 40mm are also full frame compatible (even the 40mm is borderline compatible).
Also a couple of DFA macros (50 and 100) and a couple FA non-Ltds (35 and 50).

If Pentax finally release a Fullframe, but use a 24 rather than 36Mp sensor, disappointment won't cover my reaction.... I won't be buying...

One of the silliest posts I've ever read on these forums. There is *one* dSLR currently on the market that meets your personal requirement. Go ahead and buy your D800(E) and get it over with.

I won't accept a FF Pentax without a 48+mpx sensor, and world-beating AF and SR, and GPS and 4G, and it has to be the size of my ZX-M. And cost under US$1500. Hay, got those reindeer off my roof!

I will if Pentax fail to develop a worthwhile FF solution, but thanks anyway. The other choice is to stick to a 24Mp crop camera. I don't believe Sony would be stupid enough to make a 24Mp FF sensor in 2012/2013.
Apart from high ISO ability a 24Mp FF gives me no advantage over the Sony 24Mp crop sensor. Why make a 36Mp sensor only for Nikon?

Where as if they release one over 20 mp I won't be buying... so they have their choice, the few or the masses. I really think Nikon has gone way to far going to 36 Mp. I say we meet out back and settle it like men. The winner gets to write a letter to Pentax telling them what to do.

Thanks crop mode means the ability to use 16Mp shots on the D800, which solves your problem. I don't see Sony making a 24Mp sensor, when they have already an APS-C 24Mp sensor, and have made a 36Mp sensor for the D800. Why would they make a fullframe sensor that is the same as their 3year old A900 24Mp sensor again and not have a competitive edge over Canon?... That is very unlike Sony from a marketing perspective. I believe their next fullframe will be 36Mp and so will any potential sensor that Pentax get from them.

And if not the size/weight with my 500mm lens means I will likely stay with crop K-5 successor, where as a 36Mp camera which I could use in crop mode is far better for me personally. The D600 is using an Aptina 24Mp sensor and not a Sony 24Mp sensor, which makes far more sense for a budget entry level fullframe, and not a flagship model.

A D800 in crop mode is a K-5, that's what solves my problem. My point is, I don't need 36 Mp. Car makers make 400 horse power cars, I don't buy them either. Because they are there, doesn't mean I need them. Not only that, most of the people who buy them don't need them. Camera makers can make 36 Mp cameras, I won't buy them either. They can also make 100 Mp or 200 Mp sensors. I won't buy those either.

If Pentax wants to sell me an FF, they have to sell me what I want. And really, I won't even be interested in that until 4 years from now. I'm pretty much on a 4 year cycle, and I just bought my K-5.

who knows, maybe in 4 years, I'll have an i11 computer, a 100 TB flash drive, 1Tb SD cards and a 36 Mp camera won't seem so bad.

I recently talked to a Nikon user with a D700. He has no plans to upgrade either.

So I'm curious Freak, what is it about you that makes you "need" these things?

I am confident Pentax's choice of sensor will be based on image quality rather than pixel count. There must be a reason that Nikon and Canon's flagships are both under 20 Mp.

i don't see why you guess that Sony is more expensive than Aptina for 24mpx sensor ...

Probably because producing only 24Mpx is cheaper than 36Mpx. And easier too.

Truth is a 18-20Mpx would be enought to crop like APS-C and still have 12 clear Mpx, which are enought for prints.

Then why is the Nikon D4 16mp when the D7000 is 16mp?

D600 is only rumoured ant you already know its sensor manufacturer?

It's been well published that this sensor is Aptina's first 35mm sensor.

Rumor: Aptina developing a new full frame CMOS sensor for Nikon | Nikon Rumors

Nikon's rumored D600 may use Aptina sensor technology - Cameras - CNET - CNET Asia

D600 may use Aptina sensor technology | NikonDSLRtips

That combined with the fact that Sony have a 24Mp APS-C and a 36Mp 35mm sensor it seems unlikely that Sony would sell $2800 USD 24Mp 35mm fullframe, rather than a 36Mp sensor they have already sold to Nikon.

Yes it's FPS for sports and photojournalists. Image quality according to DxO is better on the D800, than the top of the line D4.

I'll likely buy it whatever it is, as long as it's of k-5 quality.

Don't need it, but will be something else to play with.
