And it's the same company that made a fantastic medium format camera!

lol Samsung FF? That is just funny, a company that has a very small presence in the camera world, a company that even used rebadged Pentax stuff some time ago.. well, if they do beat Pentax to the punch, I just hope it will be K-mount (though, probably not)

Doesn't Samsung have a larger marketshare than Pentax?
If so, that would make them more of a presence in the camera world than Pentax

I was wondering why they slowed down development for NX - this would explain it.

And if they will halt everything, it means they're really working on that medium format camera!

Perhaps some old news can rehash what's already been discussed:

The Samsung rumour means that perhaps as early as March 2013, we may see mirrorless FF sensor cameras compete with the older APS DSLRs. I'm assuming that mirrorless FF cameras can be produced at lower cost that FF dslrs.

Ultimately then the new mirrorless FF cameras from Samsung and Sony will be putting the price pressure on Pentax, Canon and Nikon APS DSLRs. It will be interesting to see which product the marketplace chooses to favor.

I think Samsung rank about no.3 in market share, although their sales are mainly P&S stuff. Not sure where the NX system ranks compared to say Sony NEX, but it's certainly heavily advertised on TV etc.

If we include compacts, larger sensor cameras i.e. the ones we care about are pretty much irrelevant; the compact camera market being about 5 times larger, in units.

Either SRS has one and is not able to sell it, or they know an improved version will be on sale after the CP+. Being SRS on the outskirt of London, and not in some small city here in Italy, I am more inclined toward the latter.

Because Samsung sells a lot of point&shoots, which allows them to have a large marketshare, they are able to create more relevant products for entusiasts, ie this full frame.

Well Samsung is a huge company even without the cameras. They can afford to make mistakes. What mount would this Samsung full frame have, btw? Probably not the K-mount equivalent, right?
