I dont have IBIS, and not one stabilized lens... dont miss it. My camera body uses appropriate shutterspeeds and as a bonus, i have no moving subject blur....
Anything darker than what a modern camera with latest sensor can handle.... is to dark for photography anyway.

Imho... put stabilization in tele lenses and fix that sensor so it doesnt move at all!!!

Edit: I dont want to hurt anyones feelings, but as a guy who doesnt care about what brand i use, i find such discussions trivial at most.

I just want to see Pentax bring out a FF with superior build and a design devoted to the brand. Compact, sturdy, can be used to drive nails with, and so on. The K-7 K-5 design are Pentax greatest... i hope they keep it! Or make it even better!
I even have the feeling that the SR slightly blurs the image a bit. Even handheld, I prefer shooting with SR off and an appropriate shutter speed, for that reason. I get more keepers that way.

Personally, I don't give a rats *** about build quality for a tool that I'll replace on a yearly basis. It should hold up for about 1 year. Because honestly, what's the resale value of that K5 that I bought for €1200,-?

Hey - it's quite obvious that our theoretical wishful thinking camera is way better than any actual released one! Blasphemy!

Well... yes.. i could clearly see the blur in many of my K-7 images. I had many important (emotionally) images kinda half messy because of that issue, i then learned when to use SR and not.
Today... i dont miss it.. not with the sensor i have now.

Well, build is a personal preference... For many its important. For most Pentaxians im sure its important, and for me that was what i loved so much about my K-7 because i used it in a way that many times required it to be tough. Today i have all plastic fantastic gear, and i miss the Pentax build.

But... i've dropped my 50 1.8G alot of times and the plastic actually saves it i think I would hate to drop a FA Ltd into the concrete....

Cynog Ap Brychan, I think quite a few fellow photographers over the last years have found out like you that there are better options to carry around than FF DSLRs. However, while an APS-C camera is smaller and especially some prime lenses can be small and light-weight, I'm not sure even that is portable enough. Many have ended up carrying m43 gear and only using DSLRs when they really, really, really need to.
I find that I can carry my K-5 and 7 lenses in my rucksack (including my 60-250 and 300mm). The Limited primes are very small compared to the primes from Nikon. With my D800, I struggle to carry the body and 4 lenses. I'm happy with the bulk and weight of my K-5 etc (I don't do long hikes or mountaineering), so I'm not interested in changing to m43, especially as none offer an OVF, though I understand these can be quite good. I have no first hand experience, but some of those m43 lenses look to be as big as my Pentaxes. When I want ultimate portability, there's always my Q

Sorry if I mislead you, Clavius. I didn't speculate whether a Pentax FF would have better IQ than my D800, just that I suspect it would be more than good enough for my needs.

I can put a camera (K-5) and 4 lenses (including a 60-250) into a LowePro Nova 1. If I had more DA Limiteds they would fit as well.

Pentax has recently had major issues with build quaity in a number of their items. The "original" K-5 had significant issues with sensor burn. There are a number of the higher end Pentax branded lens (some wel above 1k in price) that also have significant issues with both items such as; sdm failure, zoom lock, even complete focus lock - including manual.

But that's not the worst part... The worst is; that Pentax has not adequately addressed most of these issues

Looks like these discussions go certain circle. Now we are again at "doom and gloom" -phase. Next phase begins only when something new comes out. That is "Oh yeah, we are the best!" -phase. After that comes again new "doom and gloom" -phase which is followed quickly by "shut up, we are the best!" -phase. And after some time begins new "doom and gloom" -phase which is again interrupted only when something new comes out. And the circle continues...

I just cannot understand this constant debate. If something is better in your mind, fine, go with that. You don't need everyone elses approval for that. Discussing about what could be better is fine but I'm getting tired of this constant "doom and gloom" -phase which is fueled by certain people. How can you be so pessimistic all the time? Life should be fun, no? If you don't enjoy something leave it behind and find something else that suits you better. I thought I am pessimistic but reading this makes me feel optimistic Just calm down and enjoy your hobby. And spend less time worrying what Pentax does or doesn't do next. Pentax does what it can with the resources it has. And so far it has done quite well. Why wouldn't it do well in the future.

There's very similar complaints on the Nikon forums - D800 left focus issues/D600 spots on the sensor - and many people are indignant about Nikon's attitude too. I haven't ventured on any other maker's forums, but I dare say there have been issues with new models on these. All I can say with certainty is that I've not had any of these problems with any of the Pentax gear I have bought over the years, but I am aware that they do exist.

That's fine - to each his own.

Me, with not being born a millionaire, I care a great deal about build quality and durability. I still have, use, and greatly enjoy my *istD and lenses dating back to the film-days (even having present-day cameras also, the *istD sees regular use still, and I'd be sad if it broke).

Which is why some of us send 70's mechanical film cameras for a CLA and use Takumar and K-series lenses to shoot film.

He made an assumption, you didn't mislead him. Nothing to be sorry about. I had to do a double check to see if *I* had misread you.

Man, your life must really suck. I haven't had one of these issues... and yet look at your litany of complaints.
