I honestly don't see a lot of lenses out there that surpass Pentax lenses. Even a relatively slow lens, like the DA 15 limited, has a certain look about it that stands out. I have a feeling that my FA 31 limited would match up well against it, but so many of modern lenses have a focus on sharpness and out of focus rendering and transitions between in focus and out of focus suffer as a result.

The thing that really, really bugs me about Photo Rumors is that every time he sees the characters "K" and "3" he translates them to "F" and "F" respectively.

No remotely credible, independent rumor has ever associated the name "K-3" with "FF". Every single reference to that connection is traced right back to the April Fools joke from last year through endless reposts that just won't die off. Yet apparently PR's admin believes that joke fully, as he immediately assumes any other rumor referring to a "K-3" must be talking about a FF, and posts it in a big bold headline. And then the circular reposts start all over again.

There is approximately a 0% chance that any FF by Pentax would be called "K-3". As weird as Pentax's names has been, they've had patterns to them based on their base bodies, and started a new naming scheme every time they significantly altered the body. "K-7 APS-C -> K-5 APS-C -> K-3 FF" flies in the face of all logic and reason.
It's a Japanese company. There is no logic.

Edit: Image not showing?
That's a really sloppy and obviously fake photoshop blend of the K-7/K-5 and K20D. They have 2 green buttons (second one right above the AE-L button if you don't see it) and forgot the playback and delete buttons.

Nope, the K-5's prism is much flatter. This prism hump is more along the lines of the original Pentax cameras up to the 80's.

It may be worth noting that the Sony A99, a 24.3MP full frame, was
announced on Sept. 12th. Rumors then said that this would be the
sensor that Pentax would be developing a full frame camera around, but
that Sony required 6 months lead time in the marketplace. 6 months
from their announcement was on March 12th. The Sony A99 apparently did
not SHIP until late October (Europe) to early/mid November (N.
America).

I tend to think that where there is smoke there is fire, but I suspect
that there is going to be both a 24.3 MP full frame camera AND a 24.3
MP APS-C camera announced (perhaps both with your choice of
anti-alias/anti-alias-free versions). If so, I expect the APS-C camera
will be the long rumored K-3 and the Full Frame will be a whole new
name. If we take a clue from the MX recently announced, then I would
not be surprised to see it named LX or LX-D (and I hope that it will
be LX-retro-styled, similar to what Olympus did with their OM-D).

In any event, I think that Pentax *should* want to announce something
prior to April 1st, when they were completely burned by Adam of
PentaxForums last year, with a hoax that had many Pentaxians excited
and then horribly let-down when the "joke" was realized.

If I am correct, then the full frame would be the same sensor as the Sony A99 (but not
limited by the pellicle mirror) and the APS-C would be the same sensor as the NEX-7.

if this is how a new pentax will look like I will be jumping up and down screaming , and send the head of Pentax a huge box of chocolate .

if its also a FF camera Pentax will the richest brand in the world everyone and their mother will get one.

as I know Pentax both are probably not true , we will get a camera with a "last season" Sony sensor with a questionable design decisions we will buy it anyway put our old lenses on it and forget about for a while until the next rummer

Completely burned? Really?

As in totally burned? Burned to the ground? Lit on fire, and had rocket fuel poured upon them? Uuber burned? Burned like getting burned was going out of style?

Some of us were amused by the joke. It was, after all, april fools.

Danny Ocean: Well, I know all the guys that you'd hire to come after me, and they like me better than you.

You aren't actually suggesting that anyone took that as anything but a joke. Are you?

Perhaps you'd like to go back and review the thread for that day. I'm sure it is still out there. You may find that not everyone was as cool as you.

I believe that there are still true believers out there who believe that!

Just like Elvis is coming back with a brand new diet, so Mike S is the new Pentax prophet of "100% pure Varenz Knight bloodline" (Bio) .. !

Hah! I did actually get an email from a photog friend that said look! They're finally making you a FF camera. I had to tell him to scroll down to the bottom to note the joke.

After two minutes of this video I stopped watching it, but you have to admit his couch is pretty nice.

Well, I guess the joke's on me. I read Adam's post and saw the picture, but I'm sure I didn't read the whole thread. But no, I'm not cool.
