Ok, I don't have a full frame Pentax, I have a Sony NEX-VG900 that I shoot full frame and APS-C jpeg/raw stills or 1080p24/1080p60 HD video with PK mount, A mount or E mount lenses that made me lose my desire for a full frame Pentax because it's perfect for me.

So you can use all k-mount lenses full frame and apsc as well?? How is low light high iso performance on still raws? Im planing a trip to shoot milky way time-lapses..do you need anything extra to connect k-mount lenses to this camera?? Cheers!!

Yes, since the VG900 has both full frame and APS-C modes you could use lenses like the the APS-C NEX E mount lenses and PK mount lenses like the 10-24mm Tamron .
I did not shoot any low light still raw images yet but it should be the same as the Sony RX1 and Nikon D600 since it has the same full frame 24.3mp sensor. You only need a low cost PK-NEX adapter like this one on my Pentax mount 24mm F1.4 Rokinon full frame super wide angle. BTW in the Camera Sensor Ratings by DxOMark the RX1 scored a 93 , the D600 a 94 and the top rated D800E and D800 96 and 95 with the top rated Canon DSLR 1Dx with an 82.

Thanx!! Does it have a interval shooting menu or a shutter release jack where I could connect a intervalometer?? This option is really tempting as I could use my lenses on a ff sensor..its just how its going to perform in terms of stills quality and how complex the dslr side of this camera is..think its time to do some real research.. ;-)

I did not see that in the menu but it looks like you could do that with the Tempus NEX2 Astrus remote.

I have the feeling a similar thread like this will resurface in 12 months with no FF in sight.....

Maybe in 12 months, it will be 'Pentax FF in testing phase'...

I will be very happy for all my fellow Pentaxians who have been pining for a full-frame camera if Ricoh-Pentax actually brings one out. But I won't be buying one. I simply don't need it and the price is likely to be much higher than I am prepared to pay. However, my Sigma 28mm f/1.8, my DA 50 f/1.8 and D FA 100mm f/2.8 WR will all work on a full-frame camera... just in case I have to eat my words.

On the camera side, It's really more of a market problem than a technical problem. There's not a lot of reason a FF camera would be larger than an APS-C camera, aside from the prism.


On the lens side, the top three scenarios, in order:

1. Most of the time (90%?), the 'same' or 'similar' lens does not exist for both APS-C and FF. My posit is that this is a market problem. There's a 15mm F/4 APS-C lens but there's no 23mm F/6 full-frame lens.
2. Most of the rest of the time (9%?), of two nearly-equally-capable lenses, either...
2A) the FF lens is smaller, lighter, and cheaper than the APS-C
2B) for the longer focal lengths, you can crop the FF, and the lenses by definition are equal in size
3. I've actually never seen two nearly-equivalent lenses where an APS-C lens is smaller, lighter, and cheaper, but I'll say I haven't researched every lens, either.

What lens are you thinking of, that wouldn't be smaller on FF than on APS-C?

There's a problem with your argument still. You are right that comparable FF lenses don't exist for several of the DA ltd's. The problem is that those small comparables lenses will never exist. So if I buy a FF camera then I will need to buy larger lenses. There is pretty much no disputing this.
