High Definition Digital SLR Lenses

Zeiss and Schneider have announced lenses designed for DSLRs with full frame image sensors larger than 30MP, that's like a C/size image sensor with 16MP. Would you pay $4000 for a 55mm lens to put on 24MP DSLR with a C/size image sensor or $2000 for a 24MP DSLR with a full frame image sensor that gets great photos from your current lenses. It also seems nobody makes a DSLR without video capture (it's not free) and it added to the release time of the Sony (24MP instead of 36MP) DSLR, why can't Pentax give us the option of a full frame Profesional level DSLR without video capture. I have a K-5iis and K-5 but still haven't made any movies.

I would never spend $4000 on a 55mm lens.. maybe on a 300mm or 500mm.

Leica's new 50mm f2.0 asph Summicron is also optimized for future sensors and is over $7,000. Very hard to make, but deliveries have started, yet pre-orders won't be filled for a year. Makes the Zeiss sound like a bargain.

IMO.. these prices are overkill, but I guess if money isn't an issue.

Well, here is another lens that you can add to the list...For the most part these are cine lenses, and not specifically targeted to stills. I guess if you are going to make a $100 million movie, a $20K lens would be down in the noise.

I have spent over $10,000 for a 50mm lens....granted it had a f.0.95 aperture and it was made by Leica.

I find the dof pretty narrow on the SMC Pentax-A 50mm F1.2, but I'm sure that would feel like a mile wide on this lens.
