In a rapidly shrinking camera market, Pentax will not go the usual FF route.
That is why all this delay.

So by that mark it is viable to think some would love to have both cameras if you can appreciate different experience. In other words, do not expect the FF to be your D800e with Pentax on the pentaprism.
Do you have good sources for this information, or are you just guessing?

I just can't see that Pentax is going to release a K-3 like full frame, which is of course what we all really want.

A respected member here wrote a few weeks ago (one drive-by post on a FF thread) it will be positioned between the 610 and 800, and you will either love it or hate it. Adam recently wrote he thinks CP+ will be similar to 2012 (which was 7 lenses and the K-01). The Pentax Sales Director admits Pentax missed an opportunity to release a capable mirrorless body.

I think something is comin'. It may not be Eii, but it's something.

It's all costing a fortune anyway, so I'll hang it out for the rest of 2014. If at the end of 2014, still no Pentax FF and if I still haven't mastered the 31 Ltd. then I'll go mental with a Nikon D800e (or whatever they've got then) and 85/1.4G and some Zeiss and Siggy Art.

In the meantime I shall continue attempting to capture light.

FWIW, I am delighted to use a very nice LX and a stable of SMC lenses and shoot FF to my heart's content. The entire kit for about the cost of a D800e and two good zooms.

I've been thinking about this. I've got the glass for it, 31, 77, 50/1.7, 50/1.2, I guess even the D-FA 100 Macro might work. But I know nothing about film cameras. Which one? How much? Which film? Quite fancy just B&W work.

Be grateful if you could point me in the right direction.

Why not?

I have an MX. If I was serious I'd get an LX.

Yeah, go on why not? Good idea.

I reckon some of us could actually learn photography if we got film cameras. Digital's just a Sony playconsole thing, whatever it's called. It's a computer game.

I got a beautiful well printed art book of Edward Weston's work for Christmas which I was looking at the other day.

I was thinking - damn how in the hell does he do it? Then I thought yea but he was using a gigantic tripod mounted 8x10 or larger and making contact prints.

Then I thought - if I had the same gear he had would I do half as well?
I think you already know the conclusion I came to.

Hell, other than ISO performance, I probably haven't exceeded the photographic potential of my old DL with a kit lens.
My photography has a lot of problems but whatever they are they won't be solved by throwing obscene amounts of money at photo gear.
