Yeah, what they will need at minimum on FF is the trinity of a 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8 and a fast 50 (or near equivalents). All with fast, decent AF motors.
55mm F/1.4 not fast enough focus for you, or are you assuming it doesn't cover FF?

From what I heard, the DA*55 F1.4 focuses slower than the FA 50 F1.4. It's one of the flaws that many reviewers on this forum put in, as there really isn't much else to gripe about

On the other hand, I dunno how fast it compares to my Sigma 50 F1.4 (which is kinda fast, but definitely not as fast as my old DA 35 F2.4 and my DA 21 Ltd). So if it isn't really slow compared to my Sigma - I would find that acceptable.

New version of 31/43/77
Limited zoom from roadmap: 20-35/4
24-70 + 70-200
D-FA 50 macro with focus limiter
New exterior of DA 200/300 to match new line

That would be a good start and not a pipe dream imo. Old designs may be used to a large extent if judged optically ok on digital. Later add a UWA, a VA prime and something for portrait longer than 77mm.

I agree, I really struggle to understand the suggestion that a basic lineup of FF lenses (24-70 f2.8, 70-200 F2.8 & fast 50, in addition to the existing FA Ltds) would be an insurmountable challenge for Pentax to produce.

I'm sure a slight restructure of the existing lens lineup could accommodate the manufacturing demand, they certainly have the technical ability, and it's been nearly 12 months since they stated they were actively working on FF development.

Not a pipe dream at all!

Just that it is a DA lens, and branded as DA, not a FA lens. Although the DA*55 apparently performs creditably on FF, getting +++ in falconeyes DA on FF lens thread. So it will probably do the job. Pentax already have 3 50's in their lineup (FA50 1.4, DA*55, and the DA 50 1.8). I guess that's enough.

The DA*55mm is for sure a FF lens.

Well you need some zooms, since there are no wideangle lenses for FF at the time. The 31mm is the shortest.

The D FA 100/2.8 Macro can double as a long portrait.

Other than that your list is about right, though a wider zoom like a14-24 is going to be necessary. People buy FF precisely for lenses like this.

I think we can look at Sony and the lenses they launched prior to releasing the A900 to see what Pentax will do. Wedding photography is the single largest market for professional photography and the largest buyers of FF cameras in the $2,000 - $3,000 range. I would expect Pentax to focus on the lenses that best fit this market.

It would be interesting to see the data on this. I imagine it's true, though.

I'm not familiar with the sequence of Sony lenses, nor the details for wedding photographers (although I can speculate).

How would this translate to a Pentax FF? Zooms? Wide and mid-range? What aperture?

Lenses for FF Pentax

When Ricoh launches a FF Pentax DSLR, I would like to have them provide a nice package/kit price on the FA 31, FA 43, and FA 77 Limited lenses--a Pentax classic triumverate, so to say. These seem to work very well on my MZ-S full-frame camera. Of course, a new 17-300 mm f 2.8 would also be a nice addition along with a new 50mm f 1.2.

I think they must aim for faster than f/2.8 on FF normal and WA prime lenses, after all FF in not a budget system. F/2.8 is for zoom lenses.
28mm might not be necessary with the existing FA31, but it would be nice with a DFA 23/1.9 Limited, which also can be used as a 35mm eqiv lens on APS-C.

That doesn't currently apply to Pentax 645 lenses, so why would it apply to Pentax FF lenses?
