The PDN PhotoPlus Expo is in October and both Sony (NEX-9) and Fuji are expected to have announcements.

Okay, I was looking into Europe. Since Paris is the European headquarter for Pentax, that would make a good place. But New York is also a nice place.

In another thread, I asked when are the next big photo industry events that might provide a platform for an announcement.

The list seems to be:
FWIW, my money's on a new flagship APS-C being announced in Russia, and (less likely, but hey, what the heck) a mirrorless FF in Yokohama.

Pentax is MUCH to conservative to do anything thàt innovating.

Sony will be the FF mirrorless innovator, at least for a couple quarters.

However, I am fascinated about how people fixate on rumors imagined by people on forums. One person made a comment about sensor-shift technology in passing, but now it's made multiple forums as if fact, with people, (even in that original thread here), discussing how Pentax is making it happen.

If anything, Pentax will simply come up with a "super APSc" and be done with it. There is no doubt they are working on some sort of FF, at least in testing, but I'm sure nearly every company is. Pentax will commit suicide if it tries to release a FF without a roadmap that would reflect how it would compete with the Fuji X lens lineup. Pentax has focal lenghts, but of slow, overpriced lenses.

"Innovation" by removing a proper viewfinder, and making the cameras completely unbalanced - thanks but no, thanks. Let Sony do that, it fits them.

Snake, a Pentax FF would compete with Fuji X? (which AFAIK is a mount which can't support a FF sensor).

Considering many reviews are already comparing the RX1 with the X100 and the X1pro is being compared with Leica's M, It could be the case.

And considering there are multiple reviews, comparisons, and stats putting up the K-5 against the 5DII/III, K-5IIs against D800e (which is also compared to the 645), sure.

Let's just be happy that this time it wasn't displayed by mistake. So it's damn official and very near. I will bet my tripod on it that it will be released in Yokohama on feb 13
