This rumor was taken for over 10 years!!!!

Why don't they show the FF camera?

I love the Pentax color and lenses.

Except that, since they cancelled the 2001 project (for good reasons), only recently there's some official indication they're working on a FF.
Wait, if you can; if the FF is nonessential for you right now. If you can't wait, well...

Played with a Sony A99 last week. I need to retire the Contax 645 and move away from film, or reinvest and replace my MF film scanner which is a $2,000 purchase.

I just wish Pentax would announce that they will produce a FF or announce that they will not produce a FF. I wont buy anymore Pentax gear until I know what direction they are going. IF that means buying into another brand.... not a problem. I have been in a holding pattern with my digital gear since deciding to leave Canon and selling the 5D. I though the Sony A900 what where I was going, but Sony decided to move away from the OVF and I wanted to wait and see what that would lead to.

I want a FF to replace my 645 and my Canon 5D. I have no brand loyalty.

I do not know what started the latest round of rumours, but for many years, up until the purchase by Ricoh, there was an official statement by Pentax. "Pentax remains wholly committed to the APS-C format" and people still bitched and screamed and stomped their feet that Pentax should end the rumours and make an official statement, simply because they did not like the answer they got.

For years, people argued that the reason for full frame was to reduce noise. That has essentially died with sensor improvements, to now an insistence on being able to have better artistic control and a narrowe depth of field with fast lenses. To me that argument is even less justified, it can be completely controlled by careful control of the setup at the onset. What it means is that to get the same impact with APS-C sensors you simply do not shoot the same way as you would with full frame, not that the shots can't be done.

And, with full frame, are you willing to accept either sensors adjusted for a specific lens, by offsetting the sensor lenses to avoid sensor vignetting at the edge of the frame, or by some form of "sensitivity boost" to compensate.

Full frame is not the be all and end all. It is promoted by camera companies that did not compete in medium format in the film era.

Really?

If I needed something for my livelihood I'd find the supplier that has it NOW!

I wouldn't jeopardize putting food on the table by sitting around wishing for a vendor to make what I need.

If you really need one for work then go and get one.

Seems to me your are losing money while you wait around for Pentax to make one.

We are developing towards commercial production and will definitely launch though, it is the matter of whether it makes sense or not for Pentax to produce similar FF SLR to others and slightly smaller & lighter FF Lenses than others. As to time frame, it is under advanced development towards 2013 or later. You can expect that.

sure. it will come when the FF sensor race is over.
in the meanwhile, get a second body and a second set of lenses, like 5d, 5dm2, ... or what?

kodak was late, nokia was late, we see what happened with them.
hopefully we can see a pentax ff soon, and before or same time as nex ff...
too sad as pentaxian.

Pentax are late to the race for a bigger sensor? The race to medium format? Lol
The only thing Pentax need is better marketing and a stronger market presence. The rest will follow.

The majority of lenses is not medium format.
I have too many K-mount, and more in m42.
K-mount won't fit in my 5d nor 5dm2, but m42.
5d is now so cheap that i am not complaining...

Is there something definitive in that interview that you wanted to point out?

You K-mount and m42 lenses both will work on your 5D or 5DmkII without problem.

Contax was the first company to announce a FF. One year later, Kodak was the second (with Canon the 3rd, following Kodak's announcement the next day). And Kodak's first digital SLR appeared 5 years before anyone else's (i.e. Nikon's). How is that being late?
