What I'd like to see is better DR in the high ISO than we get today. Already some cameras can do ISO 3200 pretty clean but at the expense of DR compared to base ISO.

Instead, while Canikony shifts their resources to FF, Pentax moves in to capture the much larger APS-c market with advances in technology making the image quality almost equal in a smaller form. Lets face it - the pixel counts are just too damn high already! .... but what is truly amazing in terms of evolutionary changes is ISO sensitivity. The question no longer seems to be IF but rather WHEN and WHAT Pentax release as their ff offering.
And bright lenses probably will always sell, no matter how "irrelevant" they are. In the days of film we really had a need for speed because chances were you found yourself in poorly lit conditions with ASA 100 film loaded... Now you have variable ISO and shake reduction, but people still want bright lenses. Noiseless ISO 6400 will not change that! It's like more horsepower, more inches, more whatever. It's largely an irrational thing. Boys will be boys.

People will (should) always want fast glass for depth of field effects.
