I have no clue if this has been said yet, but for the mount, it should have one of those new universal mounts (there was a different thread for it) built into it, that way you can use any kind of lens

Proximity sensor on the screen (like your phone has) that turns it off when you put your eye to the viewfinder.

The knob on the top should be made of metal, not plastic.
Large, white print on the knob to resemble instrumentation in a fighter-jet cockpit.

Not all of them.

The Art Department at my local High School has reopened the wet darkrooms and CLA'ed the K1000's they put away in 2004. Photography as the Art area requirement course (one needs 2 years of Art in HS to graduate) has a Prerequisitie now - Film Photography. Shoot, Develop, Print. Just like the old days.
That is fantastic. If my High School from ages ago had a darkroom and/or simply taught a Photography class, I'd have been for that. But, alas, they did not.

Perhaps that is one place where Pentax might gain ground... sponsoring Photography Clubs and classes in schools. Bring any camera you got, but we are showing the how-to with a Pentax.

Maybe in the end we're better off with Sony marketing a PKA to FE lens adapter? But I think Sony will only do that if Pentax starts sourcing their sensors from a different manufacturer.

A feature like Canon's eye tracking sensor that they used to have...if it ever worked.

I'd be perfectly fine with a K-3 that has a FF sensor, for around $2K. They can improve on the camera later.

This would be my request too. Works both in building a lens catalog.. as well as getting that 'extra' range for tele lenses.

but I also want an improved flash system, true (non-wireless) tether support, and a fairly deep buffer.

Nice-to-haves would be (for me) autofocus video and all-around improved video featureset as well as way to lower the true image size (say to half MP count) to increase the framerate and buffer. I can dream, right?

Oh and the body should cost retail UNDER $2,000 USD.

Honestly, a Fujifilm X-T2 which is AA-battery compatible, which has all the features from the X-100S and 2 card slots would be perfect for me too......(love the wheels... )

Well I like this one Leica T and some off that into a FF would be great:

I love the screen on it.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned before, or if my assumptions are incorrect due to my freely admitted limited knowledge of optics, electronics or business.

Square format.

Why?

1) If I have done the geometry calculations correctly, the same sensor area as a 36x24 rectangle is a 29.4mm square, but the maximum square that will fit in the "full frame image circle" is 30.6x30.6. That would give the sensor 0.6mm of wriggle room in each direction for shake reduction without impinging on the edges of the image. I confess I do not know whether that is enough, but it might go close without resorting to APS-H.

2) You would never have to rotate the camera to portrait orientation, so there would be no need for a portrait grip, an on-camera flash would always be where you want it to be, one tripod mount will always be enough.

3) It would fulfil the stated need for a Pentax FF to be something genuinely unique in the market.

It would have to be mirrorless though, as the K-mount registration distance will not accommodate a 42mm deep mirror. So a killer EVF and tilting LCD would be essential.

If the sensor could be cut from the same wafers as the 645z it would be about 30 megapixels and would presumably be capable of similar dynamic range and high ISO performance, which would make it a very competitive offering.

Thoughts?
