I wouldnt pay any premium in price for video functions that I will never use. I am sure many other people also feel the same way. :/

I may have taken 20 minutes of video on my K5. I simply use my HD Sanyo camcorder for movies.

But is 4K capture really that expensive to implement? The entire Go-Pro unit is only $400, and hat includes the whole setup.

Well, a GoPro and a DSLR are a bit like apples and oranges. It is a new technology. I certainly dont know enough about it, but I would venture to speculate that if it was that easy to implement it would be all over every video camera being announced these days. Im just saying I wouldnt be happy at paying say $200 for some feature that I would never use. For instance, as of right now I have NEVER used the video features of my K-7, K-5 and now K-5ii. If it comes at no cost then great. Ill take it. I am not a fan of the Nikon approach in the DF where they took video out even though the camera is perfectly capable of doing it. This is just non-sense. It reduces sales from the people who actual could use the feature. However, if a company wants to introduce an advanced new feature (and it happens to be costly) its better to have several models, some with and some without. If you want to increase your market share you should give your buyers options...

I think it will be in a glass box saying: Look out, I'll be out off the box in 2015!
I would bet that it's like "I'll be out of the box in 2015 OR LATER".

The suggested price for the new Panasonic GH-4 - about $1700 or more - would suggest that 4k capture on DSLR's isn't going to come as cheap as it is in GoPros (and even some mobile phones).

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone has 4K video mode and Samsung does not even mention it in their ads.

I guess folks haven't noticed that the K-3 already does 4K video ... under 'Interval Movie Record'.

Yes, good point - I thought about the DA35/2.4 after I posted - it enhances the lineup. I was unaware of the DA40 XS being FF, and I wouldn't consider the (mostly redundant) FA35/2 current, since I don't think they're still making any more. But this all means they have a decent selection in production right now.

Indeed - it's the concept and the Zeiss 50/1.8 that tempts me
I couldn't agree more - I just tried the Zeiss 135/1.8 again at the Sony store on Thursday. The rendering is so beautiful on that lens it literally brought tears to my eyes (and an emotional reaction in my gut) just seeing the few images I took on the back of the A7. Don't even think about buying that camera without getting the $350 Alpha lens adapter and some fine glass.

I had the same idea before, but somebody in the forum said Pentax is unlikely to sell FF body just to encourage users to buy 3rd party lenses..
Actually, I was thinking more that one of them would get sold as a Pentax-branded lens. I just don't know who they may actually be negotiating with.
When push comes to shove, I think it'd be OK to have the 70-200 be a Pentax design and the 24-70 not be. At least that's the priority I'd pick if I were Pentax and I only had the resources to design one of them right now.

I think I am going to need to try all my lenses on one of my film bodies to see how they do after reading this.

Yeah, the DA 40mm XS perfectly covers the full frame image circle.. I love this pancake lens, it's so sharp, colors and contrast are great, but I couldn't enjoy fully the lens because it becomes 60mm on APS-C..

You mean 27mm equivalent on FF?

I think Ricoh has no plan at all for going FF ... "they are looking into it" - to let us hope for FF and not jump ship.
They had to say that - they can't afford the perception of another false start.

It's unquestionable that they were planning it and were in the midst of developing it. It's just that they hit a snag and didn't like the way it was coming out, so they postponed it and made it sound like it's "indefinitely" on hold. They obviously were successful in taking the pressure off themselves here - most of us just voted that we don't think they're coming out with anything FF this year (let alone the complete plan that they're inevitably working on)!

Look at Pentax' new product announcements historically - they like to announce them only about a month before actual availability. There aren't even any solid rumors until a couple of weeks before that. Canon and Nikon are a whole different ballgame - we often know about their new products months and months ahead of time.

It's kinda like Apple with their high and lower volume products - everyone knows what the next iPhone will be like because they can't keep it a secret with the number of components, suppliers, and people involved. On the other hand, we could get a new Mac Mini next month before anyone even knows it's coming - let alone what it will be like. Most new Pentax products are like this (unless it benefits Pentax to advertise it ahead of time, like the lens roadmap). I'm sure Apple wishes their other product launches were like this too!
