`New Tokina AT-X PRO 24-70mm f/2.8 SD (IF) FX lens spotted at CP+ | Photo Rumors

This was mentioned earlier... If this Tokina lens pushes through and Ricoh has renewed the former partnership between Tokina and Pentax, we might see a * version of this lens. Hopefully... along with the FF.

and most probably a HD refresh of the vaunted FA Limiteds (hopefully with quick shift!)

Yes.

Others may have inside information, which I don't have. But looking at it logically, they've had enough time to develop the camera. The only thing holding them back should be the lenses.

Pentax recently put a ~70-200 * lens on the roadmap. Tokina just showed a 24-70/2.8 they said they'll announce at Photokina: New Tokina AT-X PRO 24-70mm f/2.8 SD (IF) FX lens spotted at CP+ | Photo Rumors

So if Pentax has the 70-200, plus someone's 24-70 in the Pentax mount, they'll be ready to release the camera. They already have 3 FA Ltds, a few DFA lenses, and at least 3 FF ready DA lenses I can think of off of the top of my head (DA*55, DA*200, DA*300). The only thing missing is a wide angle lens or wide zoom, which may already be on the roadmap (in any case, all they need is something like Tokina's current 16-28/2.8 FX lens to fill this role). And if they're smart, they have a whole stable of quality FA glass they can pull from and bring a few of them back - whether in revised form or just as they were.

Sony took some time filing gaps in it's FF lenses line-up. Ricoh will need to take time too.

Sure. They need a couple of normal zooms, at least one wide angle zoom, a telephoto zoom, and some wide primes.

Of course, right now, those are availble from Sigma / Tamron already.

To me it makes sense to wait for the release until their versions are out. Otherwise many of the early adopters will just buy the third party lens to use the camera and pentax will lose out on lens sales

They have to release a normal zoom with the lens, and add several other lenses to their roadmap.

They aren't stupid, this will happen.

May be the train goes towards a mirroless FF model branded "Ricoh". They bought Pentax also to gain experience. If Sony and consordes manage to sell FF units cheaper than Pentax K3's then Pentax/Ricoh comes under pressure. It is all a matter of economy and marketing. If you want to stay upfront of the development you need to SELL and make profit and for this you sometimes have to go mainstream, beside FF has it's advantages, isn't it? A 645D as an alternative to FF is a dream, but an expensive one. For me Pentax is still a good choice because of it's weather sealed bodies and lenses plus the quality. I hope to see until the Photokina 2014 some interesting releases from all major players.

Unicorns are deemed as imaginary, mythical beings simply because mankinds are confused between reality and imagination, often refusing to acknowledge reality when in the face of it!

It's better to have FF, otherwise a lot of current users would change to C/N

The next iteration maybe. When I look at A7 images on Flickr or this forums, I am unimpressed. I'm not sure what the problem is. Sony is still a generation or two away. That said, the 55mm F/1.8 is very, very good. I would buy that and wait for the next Sony body. Maybe the A7s. Sony still has work to do. My hope is that Fuji or Olympus move to FF or MF mirrorless soon. They both make better cameras than Sony.

I would love for Pentax to make the plunge with a new FF mirrorless mount, but Pentax doesn't have what it takes to pull that off.

What is even better than a 35mm from Pentax camera is half a dozen of new lenses for existing cameras.
