Pentax, make a DFA* 12-20 F/4

That's the lens I really want.

Weather sealed, silent, F/4. 12-20 means I can pair it with a 24-85 without overlap and without extra weight, and the modest zoom ratio and modest aperture allow for easier design.

The Sigma 12-24 gets mixed reviews, and is variable aperture; and the Nikon 14-24 has f/2.8, which is awesome but probably more aperture than I need, and more flare than I want.

Do it! Make the best wide angle zoom on the market.

Do it Pentax! We need a FA 20-35mm replacement!
Also 24mm and 28mm primes.

Any reason to not go with the DA 12-24 f/4? You mention DFA and WR, so perhaps you'd like a film-capable version of that lens with WR, but you didn't point those out specifically.

Just don't need it, because most normal zooms do 24-70 or 24-85 or 24-120.

A lower zoom ratio certainly makes life a bit easier.

Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF Lens 2163 B&H Photo
Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DG ASP HSM II Wide-Angle Zoom 204205

A 12-20mm F4 full frame lens should be possible but at the price of the 14-24mm F2.8.

Dear Pentax,

I've no problem with you doing the above mentioned lens, but please finish developing a FF camera, and a standard range of fast lenses to suit, before you start on this one.

Dear Pentax,

I would definitively buy this lens if you were to make it.
It would come along perfectly with the FA 20-35 f/4 (that could easily be upgraded to an hypothetic new lens line-up standard by minor tweaks to its exterior appearance, coating, WR, etc)
It would please all landscapes photographers.
Brief, there seems no reason not to make one.

But as Poit says : we need a camera for it first !

That being said : enough dreaming, and let's go back to real life
