So will 2015 be the year?
How do we know?

We could make similar polls for 'Is 2015 the year ______ will happen?' fill in the blank.

IF the facebook posts are accurate, I'd expect then to see a FF prototype at CP+ and a release late spring at the earliest.

But I don't even think Ricoh know at this point. And, even if they are working on a FF body to release next year, if the market turned before then it could be shelved.

My release date based on all available info was June 31 this year.... what? You want me to guess again? Please, spare me the humiliation.
If, any of the lenses released at this photokina are FF lenses, I'll go with and FF for this year. If not, then next year. If the 70-200-- is FF, then FF soon after a 14-24 and 24-70.If the 70-200 isn't FF, then never.

I'll bet you my 77ltd that you will not see a Pentax K-mount Full Frame camera in 2015. What will you put up?
I won't have to, because I'll be getting an FA77 again! Hooray!

Assuming Pentax is releasing a 70-200 f2.8, there would be little point if they are not releasing a full frame camera some time down the road. Up till now, their answer has always been that the 50-135 is the APS-C equivalent of a 70-200 (sort of true).

It is hard to put a date on these things though. My perception is that Ricoh wants everything in order prior to release of a camera and that means putting a release off a couple of months, or longer if necessary in order to have a good, well made product that won't flop on the market.

It is fairly clear that was the story with the K-3 and the 1.4x TC. I suspect they are working hard to improve something again - like the AF in the K-3 - and won't release (if they are actually planning to release) a FF until <whatever> is complete. Maybe the shutter and flash sync, maybe FA Limited update.

At the end of the PF interview, he clearly states, "engineering is engaged with the Full Frame, we just don't know when is the release date." That is more definitive than anything we've heard to date. Notice he said "the Full Frame" not "the anticipated full frame", not "the waiting for the OK from marketing Full Frame", the "we realize the Full Frame market is growing" Full Frame. There are prototypes under development.. and that is news. It's not just a concept on paper anymore. So, I'm going with 2015, but I still don't care. If a K-3 is more than any of the Full Frames of 5 years ago... why do I suddenly need a Full Frame? The one exception would be if they come out with very good low light sensor and a 70-200 with faster AF. Being able to bump the ISO for faster shutter speeds for BiFs is the one thing I don't have I'd go for, especially if it maintained it's fast focus with the 1.4 TC.

Pentax digital FF happened for me in 2012,
But it was an old model based on the Spotmatic series and it only took Pentax screw mount.
Then in 2013, I got the newer model that does K-mount, but alas, it was based on the LX and there was no AF.
I was hoping after all these years that 2014 would be the year of the AF (MZ series based DSLR for Pentax), but seems like its still in development (will it still be so when we ask in 2020?? )

I use the A7 with my 3 cabinet of Pentax lenses for now.
If the Pentax camera comes, I put my money where my mouth is (I will buy it, unless I can't afford one)
But till that uncertain THEN, I don't bother about it anymore and will use the PONY combo in the meantime.

I voted yes to the question, Will we see a FF DSLR at CP+

Unfortunately, the FF we see will be a Canon and Nikon and others, but not Ricoh/Pentax.

Oh you were clear no need to apologize-- I understand. I still think these are an exercise in futility... trying to mind read Ricoh and the market.

OK, maybe I'll suspend disbelief for one more year. But this is the last year, I swear!

"when the market dictates..."

You sure about that, or is it just the FA77 on the line?

That quote is so yesterday

The Pentax Executive said, and i paraphrase
"We realize the Full Frame market is expanding... engineering is engaged.. the only thing we don't know is the release date"

Apparently the market has dictated.

Actually it's the 70-200 on the roadmap I saw 7 months ago
