Why? The 15mm works great, you just have to crop. Hell you don't even have to rotate your body for portrait mode, and you get square, etc.

Keep your K5 as a backup or secondary body... but there's no losses in going FF...

the DA 15mm would be replaced by a 20mm or 24mm prime...the lens i would miss is my DA 12-24. Good luck finding a sigma 12-24 15 or 20mm prime in k-mount, other wise you would be using a MF samyang\rokinon to get under 20mm in FF.

You're right. Finding a nice wide, wide-angle lens will be tough going in the current market.

Sigma have the 15mm f2.8 fisheye that is FF ready.. soooo.. mmm i think that at this point thats the wides that we can get. Ofcourse we will need something between 15 / 20mm and if is fast its going to be even better.

I slowly get the impression that Pentax FF will be paradise for pretty much all Pentax users, not only those who want FF. Tons of people will upgrade and throw non-FF-ready lenses on the market and those shooting APS-C will snatch away loads of good deals

absolutely, I'll buy the FF right away and keep my K5 IIs as a second body for the DA 15 (a undisputable champion in wide angle)

But.. what if.. what if.. the pentax FF have the Crop Mode like Nikon and others do??? .. what if we can still use some great DA lenses with the FF just that we do it in "crop mode" .. so the 15mm will still behave the same, 16-50 too, and the rest.. just the already FF lenses will have some change there cuz they will behave as they were ment to since the begining.

I'm sure it will. Makes a lot of sense. Hopefully 'crop mode' will be selectable 'On/Off' when a DA lens is mounted, so that users can experiment with current DA's to see which lenses work well.

Since it seems clear that some DA lenses will work fine on FF, perhaps Pentax may even put a database in the camera firmware of the 'cropability' of Pentax DA and other lenses, so the camera is aware of which DA lenses, for example, vignette heavily on FF and which ones don't vignette at all. Then 'Auto Crop' mode would apply a crop factor tailored for the lens mounted.

Don't worry - there's lots and lots of old Pentax FF glass out there!
