That's reason enough for me. I still want a Pentax 36x24 dslr.

(But, I'm skeptical that it'll actually happen.)
Well, that's the reason I want an FF body too... just because... but I have no technical arguments to be honest.
As the dude said... the differences are "ne-gli-gi-ble" (he had me laughing quite hard when he was saying that).

Will be nice to have an 8x10 sensor... but the price on that thing...
Do they even build sensors that big!? Even experimental!?

I will love a 645 but sadly even that one I can't afford it.
Well, I could, if I really want to, but will be hard to justify it since photography is not my main income to begin with...

That like me, after an APS-c sensor, the Pentax 645 sensor is twice the size, not 1.5, not 1.7, 2x, twice, double, one full stop more light... I know Henry's has some 645Ds for about $5000, I was looking to see if they had a half off, Black Friday Sale, but sadly of the things on my list, 645D, and DA*200 , neither is on sale. Half off a 645D would be $2500. I can always dream.

here is the link to the 8"x10" capture back story. he uses it to proof before wasting 8"x10" film he was already spending 50k a year on 8x10 polaroid which of course was out of production

well, if he alone could make a 8x10 then we have hope that the whole Ricoh company can make a 35mm

I don't think the issue is if they can... because they can for sure... the question is if they are willing to actually do it.

Costing as much as a house, surely they can. At a competitive price, and make a profit out of it - now that's a challenge

If Pentax can generate profit out of Q, APS-C and 645 format, then they should have no problem either with generating profit out of 35mm. But indeed, if they are not willing...

yeah, like a limited series of FF at first to test the water, and then produce in mass for more profit

Internal joke I guess?
There was a rumor about a Pentax FF on some French Facebook page (or website!?) at one time (I think there was one recently as well) and for whatever reasons the thread ended (last time I looked) blaming the French for Pentax's doom (as a joke obviously) ... and so my sig was born .

Canon, Nikon and Sony have tested the waters duely. They pre-chewed everything. There is no more holes or even niches to fill in that market anymore now. Pentax clearly doesn't want to.

Which kind of sensor?

If a FF body is coming, I hope it is made with the new Sony sensor: Sony's New Sensor May Offer 21 Stops of Dynamic Range & a Base ISO of 5120
Probably with 54Mp : Sony 54 Megapixel Full Frame Sensor First Specs Leaked - Daily Camera News
Are there any rumors conserning the type of the sensor in FF Pentax?

if that sensor is true then the next gen in the 645z will likely be 100-120 mp using this technology it's getting silly soon you'll be able to print a billboard with the detail of an 8x10 under a microscope

An FF will start making more sense and start "detaching" from crop sensors once they breach the 50Mb line.
I hope they will come up with that... and hopefully Ricoh will use them

But knowing Pentax and their history on how they build the first generations, IF they do make an FF, the first generation it will most probably be 12Mb or maybe 24Mb.
