Standing farther back does not magically give me more pixels with which to make a 300dpi wall print.

No but it negates the need for the 300dpi print in the first place

Anyway, I can't talk, I like toys too. But for the large prints I want, I confess to shooting it on film and having it developed / printed. Get yo self a Z1p for those special monster prints you want to make

Anyway.. this has all been said before.

Pentax just make a FF so we can all move on? :P

Yes. A mysterious "FFeatured Countdown".

it would be nice to think this meant a countdown to an announcement of a FF camera.

Of course if it's not, it would remind me a lot of the Canon See Impossible marketing disaster...

Or the Sigma's service for changing the mounts, also had a huge, widely disseminated, teaser... if only tokina had that, and you could get an 11-16 for pentax.

You do know that 300 dpix 48 inches is 14400 pixels
36 x 300 = 10800 pixels...

14400x1080 = 155 Mp

You aren't getting what you want anytime soon. Live with it.

How about 200 DPI, you might have a shot....

or even 120 DPI.... the point about standing back, at a distance of 3 feet, you probably can't tell the difference between 120 dpi and 300 Dpi.

Let's see 120 x 36= 4320
120x 48= 5760

25 MP... hey , you can do that with your K-3.
Try some test prints, enlarge your K-3 images to 48 wide by 300 dpi, see what they print like...we're curious to see what the results are.

Most of us don't print to that size, Imaging Resource says excellent K-3 prints to 30x40, but thats how big their printer prints. They actually haven't printed to the point where print quality falls off, because they can't print that big.

I have a K5-II, so not quite the 24MP of the K3, but all I am saying is that to me, more megapixels isn't necessarily a bad thing. They can feel free to innovate as much as possible.

Edit: I'll be printing a big canvas soon but I'll probably try to stitch for that to help resolution. And this is nothing professional, I just want some of my pics on my wall

Sorry kenspo, but I'm not that much in theme: are those the lenses with cryptic "large diameter" label shown at Photokina?
