If all you need is a tilt shift, then you certainly could look at the Samyang 24mm tilt shift. The K7 is a pretty old camera and certainly either the K5 or the K3 would perform better. These cameras do provide a sensor shift options as well that can produce some nice results.

I hope you find what you need wherever you go. Good luck!
How can you use the k-3 for tilt shift? like can the sensor compensate?

No, there is no tilt sensor mechanism, although it's an awesome idea. After all with a real tilt shift, 4x5 you can tilt both the film and the lens, so a DSLR tilt shift has about half the utility of doing it right with film.

Quote, and 24mm is as wide as it gets with the Samyang... hence the need to change brands, at least until the Pentax FF comes out. But this is a case of people who have the money should just buy what they need. If the Canon is easier to use than the Samyang and you're shooting professionally, you probably want the Canon in any case.

Surely Pentax is good for a lot of things, but if you require T/S lenses, to suggest a Pentax solution is kind of silly.
One of the main reasons to buy into Canon is for the breadth of and diversity of it's lenses.
Buying a K-3 is not going to overcome his need for a T/S lens and neither will buying a Sigma 8-16mm.

Like was said earlier in this thread
"No one system offers perfect solution for every photographic challenge."
And Pentax is definitely not the system that will be a solution to this challenge.

Some folks make it sound like it is impossible to get a decent shot out of a Canon and yet, for some weird reason, people are able to churn out giant, beautiful prints that sell, and they happen to come out of Canon cameras.
I don't think anyone is saying that Canon is a terrible brand or, that they don't turn out good glass. He posted a question on a Pentax forum and I think folks are trying to figure out if there is a way he continue to shoot Pentax and get the results he wants.

If you need tilt shift there aren't many options out there and most of them are pretty pricey.

I don't happen to like Canon ergonomics (it's a personal thing), but it sounds like it is the best option for the OP. But I don't think he took offense at the suggestions either.

Exactly!
I have liked using Pentax (for the most part) so didnt feel compelled to ditch or anything so wanted to see if there was a solution I hadnt thought of.

Sadly, even with the upcoming Pentax FF announced, I dont think it will be able to do what I want for architectural photography... (Though one of my professional acquaintances was always wanting Pentax to make a FF because he loved the Ltd primes so much)

How can you possibly know what the Pentax FF can do if we don't know any specs yet?

No disrespect but I have a hard time believing that Pentax would bring an FF into the fold and not have it perform as well or better than a 6D.

Sadly, after learning photography 20 years ago with a manual focus K-mount Ricoh, a later replacement with the Pentax K30 and eventually going digital with the K7, its looking like I'll soon be buying into Canon, primarily for FF and their amazing shift lenses.

I do a little bit of commercial photography including architectural work on top of my day job as an architect, and have felt very limited by the lens line up in recent times, the Sigma 10-20 just wont cut it enough especially with taller building shots - only so much in the way of pixels you can lose with software perspective correction.

Ive liked using Pentax, particularly as the lenses are a bit smaller and a bit cheaper, but have found a few irritating things like the SDM death of the 16-50 (thankfully now fine with upgraded motor) the autofocus of the K7 being a bit average sometimes, limited modern lens range and/or rental options, and the less than ideal noise of the K7 sensor -
I'm probably going to end up selling my lenses as I dont see the point of running with two systems with incompatible mounts... Not looking forward to the cost of L lenses though!
Was looking into the Sony A7r with an adaptor so I could still use my Pentax lens AND get the Canon shift, but the adapter for Pentax isnt Autofocus (no good for the times when my left hand is holding a reflector in a model shoot!).

I'll miss the FA31 and 77, and the 50-135/2.8 particularly, even the 18-250 was a great holiday lens. Almost couldve considered using the Samyang 24mm TS if Pentax had a full frame, otherwise it or the old Pentax 28 Shift just arent wide enough!
So its looking like I'll be getting the Canon 6D, the 24 TSE, the 24-105 for a walk around and then the 17 TSE and some primes...
If only the Autofocus of the Sony A7 thing worked or there was an easy way of using pentax and canon lenses interchangeably.
Jay, there are new shift lenses for kmount being sold on e-bay for under $400, don't know if they are any good, but they may work for you. Also with the big announcement today of the new Full Frame body, you might just want to hand tight for a few months., you may not want to make the big jump after all.

Yeah Ive put down the deposit on the 6d to pick it up next week...

Its not the Pentax bodies that are the problem, just the lack of wide Tilt-Shift and *really* good UWA lenses for this particular endeavour.
I may keep my Pentax gear just yet - I can imagine I will still prefer taking this stuff out for fun more than the bulky Canon gear.

If Pentax comes out with an FF, there will be the 24mm Rokinon for it.

Which has substantial barrel distortion, not the best choice for architectural work. With a shift lens you can't (AFAIK) just plug in a lens profile to correct it, because you've shifted away from the optical center of the lens and the software has no way of knowing where it is.

OH bummer.... a tilt shift lens with significant barrel distortion.... where's the joy in that?

Although looking into it further, Capture One does allow for correction with lens/camera movements. So as long as you take careful notes on tilt and shift, this could work.
