Yep, you can disable and it will show the full image circle.

The camera knows which lens is attached, right? So it shouldn't be that difficult to preset full circle for FF compatible DA lenses and crop mode for the remaining ones.

Usually Pentax only produces one pseudo-flop at a time to test the waters, and it's a toss up over the Theta, KS-1 or the new form factor WR camera.
Heh.

Theta is a cool idea for a silly little gadget. K-S1 is apparently a very nice camera to hear people here tell it.

The WG stuff - yeah, I never saw the appeal.

In the case of Sony, as long it has the contacts and Sony can have an actual "live" connection, it will know if the lens is for crop format or no. But you can disable that in the menu.
If there is no connection between the lens and camera, then it doesn't care and you are always in the FF mode.

I assume Pentax should be able to do the same, unless they decide to "cripple" things like they did in the past.

I actually held a KS-1 the other day. Nice little camera. The back dial is not ready for prime-time, but overall I would buy one.

That's why I call them "pseudo-flops" because Pentax doesn't make crap, just an occasional misunderstood product with something that they get "wrong".

I'm not arguing, just adding to part of what you said. I agree Ricoh has had some spot-on products mixed with wild ideas. I hope there are still enough Pentaxians for Ricoh to focus on that market. There's potentially more profit to be had by ignoring Pentaxians and building a brand new customer base. Time will tell.

Staying with APS-C so $0.

Ditto. Just substitute euros for dollars. Seriously, APS-C works fine for me: compactness, portability, affordability, more-than-adequate IQ with good glass and a capable body of the K-3's calibre.

Only hope that FF is not going to drain too much R&D budget away from APS-C so that the latter gets neglected ...

Research is research. Development is development. Ricoh's whole game (Pentax did it too) is to use core technologies across various mounts.

Still saving for K-3. So my budget for what is at this stage, a pipe dream, is $0. When and if the FF becomes real, I may reconsider. If the reality of FF happens before my K-3 purchase I will more than likely redirect my savings toward the FF.

I am at the point if they do not announce a Full frame at CP+ my fanboyism is out and I may be done with Pentax. The a99 and zeiss glass is screaming my name.

UGH. I've been telling myself I don't care about FF, and I know I don't need it, but my K-30 is showing its age and I'm in the market for a new camera... I was looking at the new flippy-screen doodad they showed at CES, but... if that one and the full-frame come out at the same time, and FF is not exorbitantly expensive, I'll be getting the FF. I've already prepped my husband for the asteroid impact to the credit card. -_- (J/K. It's my credit card. I do what I want!)

Will (probably) resist buying any new Pentax gear until at least Spring '16. Got plenty already, and I tend to be a late-adopter, if anything.

Anything above $ 3000 will be hard to sell to the crowd overhere. I guess that is something we already know for a long time. My personal budget is under $ 2000, but I don't need any lens. So maybe I do get a FF.
