Right now I couldn't even afford an $800 APS-C camera, so a $2,500+ FF camera is not an option. And, in any case, I'm far more a lens guy than a camera guy. If some FF lenses appear that I'm really impressed with (sharp and contrasty with outstanding color rendition) and that fit my shooting style (I'm a landscape photographer so fast lenses are wasted on me) and I can afford the lenses and the FF camera, then I will consider FF. Otherwise, I'm sticking with APS-C. The quality you can get these days with APS-C cameras matched with the appropriate lenses is really quite impressive, and more than good enough for my needs.

After watching the K-3 price drop to half of what I paid for it, I think I can "wait and see".
I love my K-3 and wouldn't want to make her jealous, except in the case of her little sister, the K-50.
It sounds to me like I'm making excuses...

As long as it has screw drive compatibility, I can use my Tamron 28-75/2.8, and then there's always the A 50/1.7, Sears 135/2.8, A*300 and I could try some DAs on it while I save for more FF lenses.
Might be a slow process depending on how expensive it is and how my sales are doing.

Looking at the prices for lenses, both zooms are above $ 2000 then the FF body isn't going to be cheap I guess..

Maybe, maybe not. They seem to price bodies cheaper than the competition pretty consistently, especially for the higher end (645D/z). Lenses seem a little closer to the other brands. I'm hoping they will continue the trend.

It's like the Gillette model (sort of). Give away the razors to get them on your system and then charge for the blades.

Knowing nothing other than the official body mock up, I'm optimistic of a $2249.99 street price at launch. Fearing that they may be trying to hit a grand slam and not just get a RBI double... I'm guessing $3499 for a pretty heavily spec'd out monster.

That being said, I will be buying this camera, maybe in the spring following its release instead of first adopter (even though I would love to). I already have the 3 FA Limiteds, and truthfully that is all intend to use with this new camera, that and a DFA 100mm Macro.

Staying with APS-C so $0.
Same here, at least for digital as my film cameras are all larger than that.

I do hope that all those who have been patiently and not so patiently waiting for the FF Pentax get the camera they want. I see no reason for me to move up in size.

It's BYOO-TEE-FULLL.

Honestly I want to buy it. I want to not because I particularly want full frame, and definitely don't NEED it. I want to buy it to support the brand, and I think that's reason enough. But I'm not rich and I could not afford to spend more than $2,000. I don't think that's gonna happen.

Guess I'll save my heart for the flippy-screen doodad they showed at CES.

My guess is that the body will be at around $2000 .. WHY?? because RICOH need as many people to buy the body so they can start selling their FF lenses.. if they put the body at the $3000 range not that many people will buy it that fast, on the other hand, if they do some great price ( lets say $1700 or so ), this FF will sell as pancakes. Many people will buy it and so Ricoh will create a FF user base in order to sell their other products.

When I mentioned the lack of option $0, the point was that for some (how many?) there is no price elasticity, i.e. we're not going to buy it no matter what (within reason, of course, if they just give it away I might be persuaded to take one). Something in the direction of K-S1 is more interesting to me (small, focus peaking, better AF, WiFi).
However I'm glad they announced it.

Um I don't think that razor/blades model is applicable here. There are *millions* of K-mount blades around....even if not very sharp.

I was thinking about picking up a K-3 later this year, scrap that idea and start saving for the FF instead.

Looking at the poll results, I see that most people are setting themselves up for disappointment.
