I'm from OKC...home of Kevin Durant...so I think I need to vote that they name it "KD".

They're going to call it Pentax R1-C0.

They probably have a list of potential names and are crossing off all the ones that are in this thread.

No that was how Hoya did things - listen to your customer so you can do the opposite. Ricoh is a bit more sophisticated than that.

Or the opposite - saving some market research funds and going with the most popular name here.

Lets not get too excited -- it's a gap filling camera -- between MF and APS-C

Although I like the idea of some variation on LX, such as LXD, I suspect the "D" won't be part of the name as it was dropped from the K series DSLRs already. Perhaps K-LX could work.

Despite the previous reuse of MX, I really don't see a return to MZ. And I agree that anything that starts with an asterisk is doomed, or at the very least is stupid.

K2D is awesome. Unless k-1d for it to come after. Then we can have a K-2, k-20d, k-2d. All in all were in for a surprise.

The middle name can't be, because it's going to be confused with an earlier camera, the K20D

The K2 was an amazing camera as well as the k20d, both flagship models in their times. So K2D maybe, maybe not. It wouldn't do good if the camera didn't live up to that name. The some of the original K mounts were called K-X and K-M. And they took those names recently to use them on the new digital models. So that's why people are thinking about K2, a flagship model. Imagine if K2 was used on an entry level camera instead of K-X. I feel that name has been reserved for their best camera.
