the k-5 has two followup models demonstrating what would come after the k-1 if something were to come after it. also, re: the odd number countdown -- they started it, not me

I would agree it sounds good as "Pentax K" or K1D. K-2 would put it back to the heydays of its film predecessor which it doesn't resemble,

But come to think of it it's been exactly 40 years since the K2...

I'm in the DLX boat. De LX (See what i did there?) is an infamous camera, and I'm sure this one will be just as mindblowing.

It will be XR3 or KR3 so that the people that did not want to buy a K-3 because it has Ricoh on the back will also not buy this one.

In memory of the KR and XR Ricoh film cameras.

Since this FF Pentax looks like a small Pentax 6x7... It can be named like "Pentax 3x2" as in 3:2 aspect ratio of 35mm format? LOL

I think the K series names are already saved for future aps-c models. For full frame models, I think they will be either named with 'MZ' or 'LX'...

I like the name "K-2" as it makes me think of Mount K-2, which makes me thing of a uber-rugged, all conditions, serious machine.

I think with this and the new K50 replacement they will take the opportunity to streamline their naming conventions.

I'm actually thinking they have already set the ball in motion with the K-S1 and Q-S1.

Theyve already said they plan on running 2 lines of cameras. The "S" series which is focused on innovation and style.

So my bet is on K-1 and K-100 for the K50 replacement leaving room for a K-10 in the middle.
