Pentax has always embraced it's past. Maybe like the MX-1 they will give it a name reminding us of the film cameras of old.

Speaking of which I hope it comes in silver. I love my silver k-3 and want a silver Pentax FX-1000(my name for the camera)

When they created the K-S series of DSLR , they hint that new models will have standard numerical increase. Because of this, I strongly believe the model will be of K-F100. Keep it simple. Easier for everybody to understand the product line. This mean a small iteration change could be call K-F110 , a big change K-F200.
They can also go with single digits, which is much more in line with high end cameras. Think 1D. D4. etc. For things like small iterations they can say K-F1 II. etc.

K1000D... if anything they should be naming it after flagship Pentaxs. Nikon F competitors.

The new FF obviously has nothing in common with the one from 2001. I remember being intrigued by that camera, and having read that another model that had the sensor did come to market (Contax?), and that that camera got really bad reviews because of the sensor performance. Might have been the reason why Pentax pulled the plug. That must have been the only FF sensor they could get access to, and if it's so bad it damages the reputation of the brand it makes sense to bin the project.

I'm hoping they change away from the K models and go with FF-3 or FF-1 depending on features. IF they do have to put a K, I'd go with R3-K0h or R3-K0 (Ricoh...). Of course if it's better than the K3 in features, R1-K0h or R1-K0

Alternatively "LX-D." However, because the LX was an anniversary camera, that designation is unlikely to be re-used. The corresponding anniversary designation for 2015 would be "VC" (hopefully not LXXXXV). So we might have VC, or VC-D or DVC or VC-1, or DVC-1, or.................

How about K-Z? Short and simple and sounds good alongside the 645Z...

I dunno about the name, but I wanted to see what a brushed aluminum name plate like the 645z would look like.
