They also might re-release legacy glass with AF and WR along with improved coatings - Personally I think the 50mm f/1.2* and FA*200mm f/4 ED macro would be two lenses that would be worthy candidates for this, the 50mm f/1.2 suffers from ghosting rather badly on digital - but other than that optically speaking it is one of the best 50mm lenses I have ever worked with. The FA*200mm f/4 ED macro is easily the best 200mm macro lens on the planet. I think equipping these lenses with modern lens construction, Aero bright II, WR sealing and perhaps DC/screwdrive** focusing mechanism would be a way to go.
* Even Nikon doesn't have a single current native-F mount f/1.2 lens in their line up - this would irritate the nikon crowd considerably, as the best f/1.2 lens Nikkor has is the 58mm f/1.2
noct-nikkor which sells on the second hand market for prices upwards of $3500
**there is
just enough space near the rear element of the A/K 50mm f/1.2 lenses for the AF contacts, using screwdrive AF would eliminate the concern of clearing the rear element.
