So much doom and gloom floating around. If you believe what you read in these forums, a Pentax FF will:

- no longer have a built in screw drive motor;
- impose compulsory crop mode on non FA lenses;
- no longer have a built-in flash;
- be super expensive,

and will have a string of other deficiencies.

Perhaps everyone should just wait a while until we actually see the product, and hear how Ricoh describe it at CP+.

And it's not 50MP like the new Canon. And Pentax should make it google-infinty MP by using the SR system.

Yes, this was meant to be a joyous announcement for a lot of people.

Is there so much anxiety in say, our sister Nikon forum?

I didn't think enough people used that forum for it to have a mood.

I don't see any mention of "crippled KAF2 mount".
Whatever. It probably will has have a screwdrive motor. Heaven only knows how many screwdrive FF lenses they have in inventory.

Does that make us all fell better? It's a matter of a couple days wait for proof anyway.

[EDITED for tone, obviously. I also edited the original post to reflect that I cannot find the actual asahi man entry - I believe it was in another post on this Forum contradicting the pentaxeros.com reveal].

We don't actually know whether there will be a screwdrive motor in the new FF.

Your assuming that any specs will be mentioned at all. A non-working mockup will be on display. All specs, and even appearance, subject to change.

And no matter what the final specs are, it will need more cowbell.

Forgot Ricoh on the back.

Haters gonna hate; whiners gonna whine.

I'll tell you this much.

I'm not going to spend the next 6 months worrying about screwdrive.

It's not about screw drive!
The question is if there will be a stop-down coupler!

It'll also be Pentax F mount. Won't fit any K-mount lenses.

This is my take too.. just as the 2 lenses were shown as mockup with little/no information at the last show and now are announced in detail and now the FF body is shown in mockup with little/no information at this show. Just a 3D plastic printed shell to look at and see that they are indeed working on the stuff that goes inside of it.

(Laughs). Christopher Walken would be a great Pentax ambassador - King of Quirk.
