And to be really thorough, should they use vintage film instead of a sensor?

We discussed about this a hundred times; it would cost Leica prices and sell in very low volumes if any. The Df is basically on the same level as the D610, with another sensor, some functions disabled and a retro look - it costs almost as much a D810. A digital LX... perhaps $5000?
There's no place for a digital LX, MX or K1000, it's a mistake to believe the same solutions as then would work today.

Which supports the idea of the fake retro Df being just an effective exercise in marketing
What works is to have a distinct yet recognizable design, and Pentax should pursue a styling both modern and aggressive. A bit like this:

cloaking is already built into every pentax body, thanks to the massive product placement from nikon and canon.

orange spots on lens hoods that line up with orange spots on lens... and reverse thread on the hood so i can take off a lense without the hood popping off... and what lotech said!

I wish for a new D-FA normal prime. An affordable, upgraded, FF alternative to the APS-C DA 50mm f/1,8 that might replace it.
