Send your FF wishlist to Ricoh

This was posted on the Ricoh page on Facebook - Seems they are open to input about the FF camera

Wow, they haven't heard enough in the last 12 years? Times and dreams have changed since that prototype took its whirlwind online tour..
Truly, though - good to know they're interested in user input.

Composing a post there as I write this.

Posted my feedback there: Re: Full Frame- Market Launch 2015 - Page 3 - RIAC Community

In a gist:
  • Better AF tracking algorithms
  • Wider AF array and more AF points
  • Dual image processors to do 36 megapixels at 10+ fps
  • SDXC UHS-II slots
  • 4K movie recording
  • Uncompressed HDMI out
  • Improved Movie SR
  • Use a larger battery, preferably a 3-cell battery of the kind used by the Canon EOS-1D series and Nikon D4

I think this is super cool that they are asking for user input! Way to go Ricoh!

The best things are always the simplest ones. A fully fuctional k mount, better video capabilities but not at the expense of picture quality, excellent raw/jpeg performance and speed, outstanding battery life options, superb build quality/handling, and many people want p-ttl/ old school flash options with it too.

Oh please.....if they haven't read about those things overhere or on dpr then they won't do anything with the list on that forum.

So the start of the development is very near.........

They aren't asking here.. they are asking there! Why so negative? We should welcome this. I would rather them be more interactive with the end users than not.

A 1.4/50 kit prime

I figure the body's going to be fantastic whatever specs they decide on, so my biggest request would be to update the FA 1.4/50 with HD coatings and a less 90s-esque barrel style, attach it as the kit lens.

Just my two cents.

This is scary if they are asking for input now. Surely the camera should be feature locked and ready to go to manufacturing by now.

I doubt they've even fully settled on the sensor at this stage.

I am sure pretty much everything is already decided and they will probably not make any huge hardware changes now, but perhaps some firmware features could be implemented ;-). Personally i would love to see a very good AF tracking system. Maybe it is just away for them to see what the reaction of the public was to the announcement.

The specs may already be decided..

http://photorumors.com/2015/02/05/rumored-pentax-full-frame-dslr-camera-specifications/

Of course someone could have made them up.

I think those are the exact same specs that the site Pentaxeros posted as a supposition

Nothing's revealed but no doubt there are certainties about the camera that the general public is not privy to. Be assured Pentax will be developing this long awaited camera with plenty of thought but despite this there will be opposition to the finalised specs and features.

First of all thank you for developing a FF camera. Mainly I would like to see:
Powerful processor
Stacks of AF points
Strong and fast AF system with solid tracking AF-C
Sensitive in low light. all cross type, several f2.8 or faster, with centre f8 to accommodate long f5.6 lenses and 1.4x adapters (some such thing like that)
Large buffer, and fast buffer clear time
Selections of AF groupings and single
button near thumb or top lcd to press, then back wheel to change AF points or groupings, visible to user in the view finder (faster this way and easier)
for me no wifi or gps needed (but many want this)
Dual SDXC cards
X-sync 1/250th and x-sync plug for studio sync cable
1/8000th
tethering to computer (Win, Mac, Linux supported, come on please be the first to have software supported to Linux, that would set you apart from the others in the best way)
In camera focus stacking for macro (maybe that would be better on a different model?)
Layout and other features similar to K-5/3 or improved
Green button
IPS type LCD screen (high quality), I like the articulated type
Include 16:9 aspect ratio
Metal body, weather sealed of course
That is all i can think of at the moment, thank you.
