Any idea of the price?

Hey guys, how is it going?
I've been thinking about jumping ship, but the new fullframe made me kind of want to stay, even though i never really seeked a fullframe camera.
Just so i can have an idea, do you guys have any ideas of the price, something Pentax might have said that i didn't read?
Thanks

I'm guessing about the same as the new lenses...
but that's pure guesswork. I based it on the DA* 60-250, DA* 300 etc and the K-3 vs. the new lenses. I realize this is pure speculation and has no real basis in anything else.

It depends on where PENTAX wants to position new Camera. I believe Ricoh would either categorize it against D810/5D or against D750 and price accordingly.

Considering this will become flagship for PENTAX I doubt they will put it against D610/6D. So my guess it will either be $3300 or $2300.

My guess is that the first Pentax FF will be comparable to the Nikon D750, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a price in the $2400-2800 range. But at the moment, there is no official information regarding this.

Ouch, over $2100 would be too much for me. I guess it's better to just give up?

Now that i thought about it, i'm expecting unrealistic things...the conversion from Brazilian real to dollar is waay too high, so all i would be able to pay would be around $1400...i better look somewhere else...or maybe the K-3 would suffice my AF improvement needs?

Why do you want FF?
Do you shoot much at night? indoors without flash? portraits?
Conversely, do you value portability and weight? do you like birding and using teles?

K3's AF is said to be very good.

Somebody on the DPReview forum posted something off a Spanish site that equated to £1491 when I did the XE conversion - I thinmk it was $2270 USA. If so that's extremely competitive (which Pentax bodies have always been) so I wouldn't be surprised if it's in the £1500-£1700 range - i.e. £500 below a D810 even though it carries the same sensor. To be honest if Pentax want to gain market share they will have to price below the D810 EOS 5D level in order to establish themselves

I would be surprised (and delighted) if it were under $2500.
I would not be at all surprised if it were closer to $3000.

They are always over priced when they first come out. But after they have been out for awhile.. always good deals!

ETA: You can now get the K-3 Body for about $630 USD!

Looking at Nikon prices overhere:

- 4Ds is 5.999 euro
- D810 is 3.199 euro
- Df is 2.599 euro
- D800 is 2.299 euro
- D750 is 2.149 euro
- D610 is 1.479 euro

So I hope they make it 1.999 euro (max) and go for as much sales as possible.

We don't even have the full specifications yet.. will need those before guessing at price too accurately.

Pentax would be smart to place the body in the $1750 range. They can't compete head to head with the Nikon D750, 810E, or Canon 5D Mark III so why make it even close. If they introduce at $1750 and it makes it way down to $1300 in 6 months, everyone wins. If they introduce a nice kit package for $2,400 and have a highly rated product, you could see a shift in the market. You may pick up the Canon and Nikon user that wants to go full frame but can't justify the price tag.

No, don't give up. Start saving now for when the successor comes out. Then this first body will plummet in price. We can take a hint from what happened to the original Sony A7, especially as additional models were released and a successor followed. If the price doesn't come down then you can guess extra hardware like a grip, lens, flash, etc will be included to help move inventory.

Actually I shoot a lot at night (astrophotography) as well as indoor portraits for official use. I also shoot a lot of shots in limited light where a flash can't be used. It sounds like the FF might be a good idea for me.
