Sorry, but I don't have the time and the patience to read all those posts.

And I think that we didn't need to. Because:

They said from the beginning that this is not the actual design.

We better think about what we need, not about what a mockup is reveilling. Or what ever the right script.

I've scaled the K-3 vs K-2 to demonstrate that this new camera is quite a bit bigger than the K-3. It is much more like my Nikon D800
Assuming the scaling is correct, I would call that 'marginally' rather than 'quite a bit' bigger.

The D800 is, according to DPR and IR side by side comparisons, 1.5 cm wider and over 2cm taller
than the K3. Your image suggests the Pentax FF mock-up is scantly 0.5cm wider and less the 1cm
taller, (save for the tippy top of the pentaprism, perhaps).

I think the boxiness is really playing with the eye. Round off the corners of the mirror box and that
31mm won't look so tiny and the overall body will look less massive.

THe weight would predictably be considerably greater than the K-3, even if the size will be only marginally larger. But this too if not a big deal for the gain in dynamic range and resolution.

The revealing thing about the body mock-up as presented is that it provides an overall guide to the envelope required to house the innards of the new camera. Consequently, things like button layout, inclusion of OBF, articulating or tilting LCD screen etc are pure speculation, but I would say the overall size will be pretty much as we see it here, which is significantly smaller than the Nikon D800/810. Only one thing's for certain: it will be the biggest non-MF SLR that has ever been produced under the Pentax brand.

So you can be assured that Pentax are working really hard to make it the smallest possible FF dSLR possible. Happy to see this first before a MILC FF (still a way to go for the EVF to be acceptably responsive for a high end and larger format camera), and I will be interested to see how good the LV mode will be on this camera.

From this (if to scale), it appears the Pentax FF is less wide and only marginally taller than the K-3. I would be pleasantly surprised with that.

I'm guessing that it is about 17mm taller, which in my book is not quite "marginal".
However, the mockup is smaller than a D800 so that is good.

I'm hoping the new Ricoh/Pentax FF DSLR will have a MSRP of like $1,199 - $1,599 to compete with the Sony A7's and the Nikon D610. I hope it does not turn out to be a pricey niche model like the Nikon Df!

This is the side by side comparison of Pentax Full Frame and Pentax K-3.

The original photos of full frame camera doesn't have the labels, which are attached by using K-3 as a reference.

Full Size image

There are some noticeable differences:

1. No built-in flash on full frame body, which is bad, as it's the easiest way, if not the only way, to trigger the single off-camera external flash with P-TTL support.
2. ISO and EV button is on a curved surface, which is helpful to distinguish those buttons when not looking at them;
3. No Movie/Photo switch on the back, moved the LiveView button below the Green button, and no Mic and Earphone port, these might suggest there is no video recording support on the full frame body;
4. Moved the AF point switch button up, which is nice, as the original location on K-3 is not easy to reach;
5. No flash switch and moved PC-Sync up;
6. There is one more button above the RAW/Fx button, compare to K-3, which might be the super resolution switch button;
7. I/O port is smaller than K-3, might removed one of the port on the full frame body;
8. The body size is larger than K-3, but not much. Quite small compare to other full frame bodies.

All photos of Pentax Full Frame camera are from GIGAZINE.
There is an assumption that if there is no built in flash that would hamper the existing flash system. I think it could mean that the existing flash system is going to be upgraded to allow for a more sophisticated system that can be operated and controlled within the camera.

I'm not saying I wouldn't like this, but I think we'd all be extremely lucky if it even cost less than the new DFA* 70-200 2.8

I can see it at that price mid-late next year but I just can't see it being the same price range as the K3 when it first comes out. I certainly would like to be proven wrong thou.

If the Pentax FF is 36MP, it won't be priced like the Canon 6D, D610 or any Sony A7/II/r. Think more like D810 or 5DIII price. If the Pentax FF is a 24MP box, however, maybe D750 pricing is possible.

The only way Pentax could conceivably price a FF like the D610 would be if they went with a 24MP sensor, extensively raided the K-3 parts bin, and put absolutely nothing new in the FF body other than a FF sized sensor.

36mp FF and price it between the nikon d750 and d810. Around $2500, i think that will be competitive.
