Originally posted by Kunzite I think they can. But "high-specification camera" and "really good" are all relative; and we aren't talking about an EOS 1-series/D4 level camera (I'll let Barry confirm that
). In my previous post I was talking about a 2500€ camera, not a 6000€ one.
A mid-level camera, let's say matching the D810 in about every way but probably with a less sophisticated (yet still made-for-FF) AF should be doable. And it would take such a camera to match and surpass the K-3
Correct! I'm not talking about 1Dx or D4s, etc. (In the past I've made the mistake of saying "top-end", which has been interpreted as one of those. Now I tend to say "high-specification").
I'm talking about something in the class of the D810 or 5DS or thereabouts. Certainly not something like the D610 or whatever the Canon equivalent is, which I would find largely pointless. My main camera is a K-3 - that is what the Pentax FF camera is competing with as far as I am concerned.
(Just for the record: if Ricoh did launch the equivalent of the 1Dx or D4s, at a plausible rather than "affordable" price, I would probably buy it if I could save up enough! It wouldn't do
everything I'm expecting the FF camera to do, but it would do
some things much better).
