I didn't even find out I was shooting APS-c until 2007. How could I prepare for something i thought I was using... big difference my derriere...

I just bought my *ist DS, (for about $1800) snapped a few zoom lenses on it and started shooting. Crop factor? I didn't need no stinkin crop factor.

Does crap factor even matter if you're shooting a zoom?

As long as your zoom is wide enough, you'll never even notice.

Oh, come on Norm. You have to know the number one reason to get new gear is because you want it. Why did you get a 60-250 DA * lens, when you probably could have gotten by with older cheaper lenses?

There are a few people out there who "need" full frame or medium format for their work, but most people don't really "need" anything above an entry level camera. But if they want it and have the money, then it's all good.

That's certainly what Pentax is banking on.

Not going to be in a hurry to buy FF, but I figure my FA 20-35 4.0 and Tamron AF XR Di Macro 28-75 2.8 will do for a start if I want autofocus. Of course I have 6 older "A" lenses that I still use on my K-3 and a KX film body (35 2.0, 50 1.4, 50 2.8 macro, 135 2.8, 35-70 4.0, Vivitar 70-210 2.8 version 3). My DA Limited lenses will never be neglected, especially if the new camera has a crop mode.

Lens-wise, I'd do well with the new FF I think. The problem is, I don't have money for the body... at least until we are done paying off our debt.

But the lenses look alright:

Tokina 19-35mm f/3.5-4.5 (supposed to be good on FF)
Rikenon XR 28mm f/2.8
SMC Pentax DA 35mm f/2.4
Various 50mm and 55mm
SMC Pentax-A 135mm f/2.8
Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 LD DI

That would cover all my needs I suppose and it was all cheap, as well... I do want the FF, hopefully within the next 2 years I'll get one.

I think you have a FA 24-90 or a FA 28-80.... don't recall seeing a FA 28-90.... BTW, the FA 24-90 is a pretty good lens.

It is in fact an FA 28-90mm f/3.5-5.6. Here's a pic, along with a few other artifacts from the past that I still find appealing…

I'm working on the "I want it" thing with the rosary and monks garb. It doesn't seem to be working...As soon as I stop repeating "I will not buy a Full Frame" thoughts of starting bank accounts to stack cash out of view start creeping into my head, it's constant war." It's not about the full frame, it's about, I want one of every format camera. It's a camera format I want it. OK< now where's that rosary? It's already getting out of hand.

I've won a few battles, sure feels like I'm losing the war.

All my lenses except the DA 15 are full frame. Unlike Norm I need nothing to overcome my lack of interest in buying a FF. There are also very few DA lenses I want to buy when you folks start disposing of them super cheap.
