Tell me right now precisely what the features and specifications are for the K-2 (including the 'surprise or two' mentioned in interviews) and I'll give you an accurate projection of what I am willing to pay.

That being said, when released I believe the camera will offer 95% of the spec's of its Nikon competitor + a unique feature or two + the Pentax signature ethos (WR, IBIS, ergonomics, size) @ 90% of the then-current MAP of the Nikon competitor.

$2,700, and it will stay there a lot longer than people expect. Early adopters will win this time.

I wonder if it will have the Ricoh name on the back? Seems like they don't add it to the S1 and S2, maybe they realize that Pentax is more marketable than Ricoh when it comes to cameras and they will leave it out from now on.
From the recent interview at CP+ I concluded that the K3 was a collaboration between Ricoh and Pentax, both bringing something to the table (RGB metering is one example). The FF is a flagship product, I would expect a similar branding strategy like the K3 to take place.

Well, it's not exactly a collaboration, as much as Ricoh Imaging benefiting from the research done elsewhere in the Ricoh Group. I'm not sure about the K-3, but the Theta and the K-S2's Clarity Enhancement are from the Ricoh Group.

Then I guess it would be time to get the black sharpie again.

The new 86k-pixel RGB metering sensor of the K3 I believe was a Ricoh technology implemented in their GR cameras, they might have been other tech that made it through I'm not sure.

So you're talking about Ricoh's ex camera division working together with ex-Pentax Imaging Systems. Since the goal was to integrate them all along, including technologies from both was a given.
I ceased seeing those as separate entities, it's all Ricoh Imaging now. I was talking about Ricoh Imaging being able to benefit from technologies from the Ricoh Group, but I see now it wasn't about that.

I'm so pleased using all my old SMC-M lenses on the A7 I wouldn't pay more than another A7 body, if I decided I need another body for my lenses. The A7 is my digital LX, which is what I wanted Pentax to make.

Will we have a 'Why I won't buy a K-2' thread?

Was the death of the K-3 thread a signal like the rapid price declines on the K-3?

Wilt there be a system of "Why I won't buy a "..." threads, with a declining numbering sequence?

/ irony, just to be clear.

I'd guess $2700-$3000, but I'd agree that the FF would have a longer cycle time than APS-C. $600 bodies are pretty much disposable, but $6000 bodies certainly are not.

I think the KS-1,2,x,x,x cameras will be really short cycle as they feel out features and technology combos (and ..ahem... colors). They've corrected themselves in a couple of interviews when they started to say 'experimental' and I think what they meant was feature experimentation to attract users, not testing the underlying technology/implementation.

The K-3 / flagship APS-C bodies would then have a longer lifecycle (about 16 months? I'm not sure how to account for the 'ii' and 's' type models), and MF would be somewhere in the 6 year zone.

So maybe FF bodies would be 3 years? 2.5? Or align with the same 2 year major camera show cycles?

I have no idea where the Q mount bodies sit in this... like APS-C I guess.

If this were all overlaid on a calendar I bet there could be some obvious patterning that would prevent release collisions from happening that often.

To precisely put it... It depends on spec and feature it comes with...
I'm willing to pay for
$1800~2399 for entry / enthusiast FF (if such things come to exist...)
$2400 or more (my budget would be 3000ish) for Advanced / Flagship Professional FF

I don't expect Flagship feature on budget price for first generation Pentax FF DSLR, so I voted for 2400~2999.

Those threads probably deserve their own subforum. After all, FF had its own subforum for several years before the product was even announced.

I'm really not in the market for it but I picked option B although I could see it going slightly higher. Given than Pentax is looking to grab market share in what is already a smaller market I would hope they would price themselves very competitively against the competition (like they do already with their other DSLR's).
