Those folks wishing for exotic superteles and f/1.4 wideangles - I don't know about that. It seems to me they're asking Ricoh to out-Canikon Canon and Nikon. That is, try to beat them at their own game. I just fear that if Ricoh pursued that strategy, the Pentax forte of compactness and character would be lost or weakened in the process. We'd end up with a copy of the Nikon lens catalog instead of a really different alternative.

If people really want a 24/1.4 and a 200/2 and whatnot, and are prepared to lug it and pay for it (I mean really purchase and use the stuff, not just wish for it to "show 'em canikon guys", as drypenn wrote), I just feel they should have bought into a different system a while ago already. Wishing for lenses is not about bragging rights. Not to me at least. So Ricoh, please keep the Pentax lens catalog quirky, compact and different.

Regards,
--Anders.

Exotic lenses are not "unPentax", but it has become unPentaxy only in the last years. They had an excellent ultrafast 50. I know several Canon pro's that have it in their arsenal because it performs so much better then the Canon. And how many manufacturers sport 200mm macro lenses?

It is a shame Pentax is now known as the compromise-brand.

They announced a DSLR not unlike the other brands:

Me-too DSLR <> compact or different

We already have the following:
FA31/1.8
FA43/1.9
DA*55/1.4
FA77/1.8
DFA100/2.8
DA*200/2.8
DA*300/4.0

Frankly, I'm not interested in full frame lenses above portrait lengths - APS-C does that better, lighter and cheaper.

So my three lens wishlist would be:
DFA*24/1.8 (I would accept f/2.0, but f/1.4 might be too much glass)
DFA*35/1.4 (it needs to faster than the FA31 to have a raison d'etre)
DFA*135/2.0 (f/1.8 would be huge, and 85mm is too close to the FA77 or the DA*55 on APS-C)

But I'm confident whatever is offered will be great, because Ricoh has barely put a foot wrong for some time.

It is on my desk right here and I'm heading off to see what the local penguins are up to. Yesterday, when I was without a camera, one was putting on quite a show.

Can't wait to get this lens on my new FF when it finally happens, although it is well worth having on an APS-C.
No penguins putting on a show but the DA 200mm F2.8 will get you a shot in some dingy places.

I don't think Pentax would be best served at all to make a ton of f/1.4 lenses; no point in trying to beat Nikon and Canon at their own game. What I would like to see, and I think would be really, really attractive to a lot of shooters is for them to update two old lenses. IF they could do a 20-35/4 and a 28-70/4, with better coatings (and glues), but still keep them the same size as the old lenses, that would be really attractive to a lot of people. It could also help to attract buyers who are looking at mirrorless systems.

Updating the 50/1.4 and 28/2.8, keeping their old sizes, would also be attractive.

Pentax has one of the best 1.4 : the 85mm 1.4, they might resuscitate this legend, it's extremely well respected by other brands ^^

Not interested in any kind of DFA, possessing 31-43-50/1.2-77-F135-DA300
Maybe something like 15/3.5 even not DFA, K is enough

DFA lenses, I would like a 24mm and 28mm. 24mmm should be big, with fast aperture, WR, QS, distance scales, the works (* rating?). The 28mm should be rather small, not as small as a limited, but around the size of the old M series 28mm lenses, maybe smaller. This one should be just regular DA like 35mm 2.4 and 50mm f1.8 right now. That way the FF would have a nice high-end UWA, and a decent, affordable wide angle. And these focal lengths would be fine on APSC as well. Pentax is missing them right now.
For the third DFA.. I don't really have a priority. Maybe something in the 70-135mm range and with bright aperture. I think lots of people would like that. Bonus points for WR.

Um ... none. I think with the Limiteds and Sigma's 'Art' series (provided all of them will eventually be released for K-mount) we're pretty much covered, aren't we?

I hope of renewed FA Limiteds as granted therefore my wishlist of totally new ones can be like such:
DFA 22/2.4 Limited (super wide, FF alternative for DA15@apsc, focal length between 20-23 and max. aperture can be up to f/4.0 - just keep it compact with filter size max 58mm)
DFA 117/2.5 Limited (compact moderate tele to suite role of 77Ltd@apsc, filter size possibly 49mm)
DFA 200/4.0 Limited (compact tele, focal length in range of 176-200, if on shorter side then can be brighter like f/3.2, but keep filter size max 58mm)

That will give us line of FF Limiteds like: 22, 31, 43, (70), 77, 117, 200

Adam has been spending too much time with the 35/f1.4 Art and has forgotten how special the 31 Ltd is.
Going the way of Sigma with 24/F1.4, 35/f1.4 it's an immature desire, similar to wanting a Lamborghini instead of a Nissan GTR because it looks awesome. On the new FF sensor with the low light AF capabilities you WONT need anything faster than f2.8. Keep it sharp, aw, silent, fast focusing and above all Small....

I'm happy with F/1.8 or F/2 as long as they are sharp wide open. I own F/1.4 glass, but rarely shoot it wide open. I usually stop down to F/2.
