When is Black Friday? If they release it after that, many potential customers will have spent their camera money on some other body. If they have the FF in hand, they might spend what's left on lenses for it.

Maybe Pentax is reworking their plan and come out with a mirrorless full frame (like Sony a7) instead. If that is true, than I hope for good forcus peaking (focus assist) too.

Oh, boy... Ricoh Imaging was crystal clear about it: they will launch a K-mount FF DSLR, and they already started launching lenses for it.

The source of the rumour calls himself "asahi man", too... Only one space between them and "asahiman" here.

Maybe a bit optimistic.

i dont think they will change the plans to mirrorless after the announcement and the details for the FF.. but it is possible that mirorless is also on the roadmap.. lets see what the future will bring

Physically in shops, where it is displayed and available? Never. But I guess at some point you can order it online.

A mirrorless would be less weight, but it likely would not be as good as a full-sized full-frame DSLR for action photography.

I'd prefer a mirrorless Pentax full-frame as the lighter weight would be more important to me then how it performs on fast action. For fast action, I intend to continue to use my Nikon system, and will use Pentax full-frame (hopefully with pixel shifting) to shoot still-life/macros/landscapes.

So, if Pentax were to come out with both a full-frame mirrorless camera AND a full-frame full-sized DSLR, I'd buy the mirrorless version over a full-sized full-frame DSLR.

As most of you already know, Pentax already has a mirrorless camera called the K-01. I own 2 of them and really like them. I'd be extremely happy if Pentax put a full-frame sensor into the K-01 body!

I hope you are right. For the sake of Pentax brand survival, I hope Ricoh is seriously working on a mirrorless solution before Sony dominates so badly that no one ever catches up. Canon has a half a solution (the APSc sized M series) and Nikon has non in in terms of an FF mirrorless.

I really missed the whole K-01 wave. Am I to understand that it took regular K-mount lenses? If so, then Pentax is in a unique position because their regular DSLR lenses work natively on the mirrorless too. Sony had to come up with a whole new lens line for the mirrorless because the DSLR line lenses did not work natively on their mirrorless series of bodies.

That is correct, all K mount Pentax lenses work perfectly on the Pentax K-01 mirrorless camera body!

But as most know, the K-01 is rather "thick" for a mirrorless camera (to accomodate the required increase in sensor/mount distance), but that's just fine with me.

Increasingly, not by much, especially once you factor in the extra weight of the larger battery carried by a DSLR.

Sony A7R II is 12% (17.6 mm) narrower and 13% (14.8 mm) shorter than Canon EOS 6D.
Sony A7R II is 15% (10.9 mm) thinner than Canon EOS 6D.
Sony A7R II [625 g] weights 19% (145 grams) less than Canon EOS 6D [770 g] (*inc. batteries and memory card).

Given recent Pentax body designs, I suspect a Pentax FF will be on the compact side, akin to the dimensions of 6D/ D750 class FF's.

So it's time to Express your expectations. Only one answer can be given, but you can always wrote something. It is not about announcements, or about your own purchasing, but about the month that customers can have the new camera in their hands.

What do you think?
I was one of the few who predicted January release when this post first came out. I think we will see some announcements in advance in the next few months. A January release would allow Ricoh to feature the camera at CES which might end up being the buzz of the show. Followed by showing at WPPI in February.

Last year 645z was the major attraction of the show at WPPI in Vegas. I am sure giving away three 645Z+55mm lens had a lot to do with the crowds gathering at Ricoh/Pentax booth.
