Will You Be An "Early Adopter" of the Pentax Full Frame?

Having a considerable investment in full frame lenses, and being a product reviewer for numerous sites, Yes. I will be in the first wave of buyers. However I will be buying a production model due to the fact that if you are given something from a manufacturer: you forgo the right to be critical of it. If you are given something and cast a negative light on the product, it will throw your credibility as a reviewer into question. If a reviewer has paid for the product and it fails to meet* their expectations they are fully justified in making the shortcomings of the product known - as a reviewer, they have duty to do so.

But that is my opinion of review ethics.

* The reverse is true, of a product exceeds expectations in some manner, making this known is good for the community at large.

I've heard that the new full frame could cost at introduction anywhere from $2,000 USD to $4,000 USD.

It's price will certainly dictate how soon I'm able to afford to purchase the new full frame. I believe that I can probably just about handle a $2,000 price - but $4,000 is certainly out of the range of what this amateur can afford.

If the full-frame is closer to the $4,000 figure I'l have to sit on the sidelines for a while until the price comes down, or maybe even consider a used one down the road.

My calculations based on historical Pentax pricing and also competitive pricing with other brands brings me to the conclusion that the Pentax FF will be priced between $2,200 and $2,400 for a high megapixel (36-42) and $1,400-1,600 for a 24MP camera.

My thoughts are the same as they always were.
I'll make a decision once I see the specs.

I was a bit put out by the K3ii thing, so I probably won't pre-order.
But if I do get one, it will be shortly after release.

If It's reasonably featured and priced....yes.....here is what my pentax ff currently looks like:

This 16ft boat with 50hp yamaha will fetch about $4,500 aus..... I've got it listed for sale currently.

I tried setting aside $ but just ended up buying K lenses.

My guess would be more 2500 to 2800 initial pricing with the price falling over time. I have absolutely no inside information though.

I cannot imagine a price tag north of 3000. It just wouldn't make much sense in today's marketplace.

As you said, in the first months from its launch likely some problems might emerge. And honestly, I'm not in the budget for it within the next two months

There is a possibility for me to buy it in spring 2016, or maybe late summer (one year starting now), I'm not in a hurry after all as I am satisfied of my K-5 IIs.

Probably yes. For a simple reason. The full frame viewfinder of my film cameras is easier on my old eyes when using manual focus. I do have the new 150 - 450 lens and I am finding that like on my Tamron 70-200 f2.8, I use manual focus quite a bit. I also have some old manual focus lenses that get quite a bit of use. I have been using SLR's since 1970 or so and I only got my first autofocus lens about 3 years ago. When I get it I will probably put my low mileage K5 on the market. Maybe even my K5-IIs. My K3 would become my backup camera.

Yes I want it if the price is not too much more than the K3, I may not really need it as I'm quite happy with my K3, but I want to make good use of my old lenses from film camera. Frankly the FF mock up looks ugly to me, I still feel K3 is the prettiest DSLR Pentax ever produced, and pixel count is not everything I don't care whether it is 36 or 42MP, I am hoping for better low light image quality and accurate auto white balance...

The answer is no, I am not going to be an early adopter.

Reason is simple, timing, I will be in Asia for about a month in December so there will not be time to get to know the new FF before the trip, whereas I've been using K-5(classic from launch and IIs for the last 18months) for so long I know the potential/limits very well, not to mention the kit will be smaller/lighter. And of course the aforementioned trip has drained my available fund for this year(and first half of next year), with the current state of A$ the introduction price will be more than I can bite in one go anyway.

Probably not. I am generally not first on board with any new product. Just having a full frame sensor is not a reason for me to spend a lot more money on a camera. Now once it is out, if the performance and features warrant the price, I would get one a while down the line.
