A sci-fi perspective on all full-frame rumours.

All throughout Isaac Asimov's novel Second Foundation, the lead characters are trying their best (for good or ill) to guess the location of that shadowy organisation. By the end, the number of people who say "I happen to know where the Second Foundation really is!" can no longer be counted on one hand.

All the characters who make a statement on the matter turn out to be wrong - with the single exception of the First Speaker of the Second Foundation itself. Anyone who actually knows says nothing to non-Second-Foundationers, and the only other man who knew, fifteen years before, had his head blown off to prevent him revealing the secret. While I don't think Pentax/Ricoh would ever resort to that, it's a fair bet that anyone who's actually handled the beast has signed a binding agreement to keep quiet, with heavy civil penalties ensuing if they open their mouth.

So until the Official Big Reveal from Pentax/Ricoh, WE KNOW NOTHING.

I am not interested in the FF, but the Foundation trilogy (which is actually now more than 3 books) is awesome, as are the robot novels.

The entertainment value of being a Pentaxian will be significantly diminished.

If you had an infinite amount of monkeys typing on an infinite number of web forums you would eventually get a true Pentax FF rumor.

If we take into account a multiverse of parallel dimensions, then each and every rumor is true somewhere.

The trouble lies in getting to the universe which has the exact full-frame variant that we want.

Well what with Canon and Nikon complaining to the Japanese Technology Commission on Ricoh / Pentax securing rights to the next gen Sony sensor, and even threatening to delay models that will hurt the Nikkei, Pentax have yet again have had to delay their launch by at least a full year.

The last time Pentax wriggled out of the dodgy backdoor business practices of the big two, was when the K5 was released (and all the awards it got, as well as proving you can cram all that tech into such a price point). Canon/Nikon are ensuring that the K5 "anomaly" doesn't happen again.
