What will they call the prosumer FF camera?

So if the professional FF is emerging as the K-1,
what name will they give to a cheaper prosumer version?

K-S1 is taken already.

And they can't follow the K-50/K-500 route, as they've also had a K10.

Will they take a leaf from the LX/MX film camera playbook, and go with L-1?

I think that's down the road a bit, maybe a year, I'm guessing the will upgrade the K3II before coming out with a D610 level FF

They're counting down in their more professional-focused models (K-3, K-1) to get to the top tier, and they're counting up in the consumer-focused models (K-S1, K-S2), so maybe a consumer focused FF would be the K-S3?

I was thinking about this earlier today and was wondering why everybody is thinking K1 will be the name.

Just a guess but it could also be F1 or D1. If it was my choice, I would go with F1 and add the F to all lenses that are made for the full frame.

Ricoh Imaging's Pentax F-1 Full Frame camera. Sounds impressive. That way, if they would also make another FF camera with a 24 MP sensor and a few less features, it could be called the FS-1 or F-2.

Just my thought.

I vote for the new full-framer to be called F-U, for all those who doubted it would ever come out.

If Ricoh stays with the typical number scheme take your pick K-10, K-20, K-40, k-60, K-70, K-80 or K-90. Even number first digits seem to be out of favor so K-20,40,60 & 80 are less likely. As there are K-10/20D 10 and 20 are less likely also.

It's not like they have to use a K-something designation; just like in the past, when they switched from the K-series to the MX/ME series. They might do it again. They can't call it MX as it won't be a flagship, so it should be ME-something.

I believe it was planned for it to be called Pentax K-XV, but now with a release next year it might be called Pentax K-XVI.
