Kunzite, I was joking about representing anyone. When I said "we" earlier I was talking about anyone in the thread that was questioning who exactly the target for this camera is going to be. Considering the camera hasn't been released we still don't exactly know because money, specifications and performance does matter and nobody actually knows where the camera will land in these categories. I don't believe I was in violation of any forum rules by having a discussion about this.

It's just a discussion on a camera. We're not talking real world politics..... lets keep it friendly.

It would help if you would be more careful with strong statements like "nobody actually knows", and less dismissal about the existence of a Pentaxian user group willing to buy the camera for a fair price. Then, perhaps, you would not see my responses as unfriendly.

I've heard price leaks as well but my big thing is until I see official announcement and production K1 cameras with production firmware in the hands of users I consider the K1 to be an unknown in the categories of Price, Specification and Performance. But maybe you know these things as well

But I think as I previously reported in this forum, but not this thread, at the PDN PhotoExpo in NYC back in October (2015), I was told by the lead Pentax rep at the booth, in the presence of another person who was a blogger/journalist (Dutch or German, I think...), that he expected the price to be $2,400.00usd MRSP, and get to $1,900.00usd street pretty quickly.

This did not constitute an official announcement, but it was from a Pentax USA employee, management level. He had lots of other interesting stuff to say as well."


Interesting. That price does make a bit more sense to me over something $3k+ since it could appeal to a wider range of users. My initial thought Pentax getting a camera priced in-between a D600/D750 and D810.
